I also book with Choice to get the discounts, but this hotel I decided to check out of and go stay at the local Holiday Inn instead. I helped my 12 year old son up to the ceiling & he was able to crawl around up there no trouble at all. I didn't have him lift the ceiling tiles in our neighbors places, of course, but I could see that he easily could have if he wanted to.

We stayed the night because I promised my boys they could swim in the pool. I noticed there was a hottub also, but the water was lukewarm and it was green. The boys had a good time in the pool, but the next night at the Holiday Inn I discovered they have a much bigger and better pool area, and the hottub was hot and clear (not green).

It was a good stay at the Holiday Inn, but this other hotel - the Rodeway Inn - I don't even understand how it could be a Rodeway Inn. They clearly are unaware of the problems with their hotel at wherever Choice headquarters is.

I was astounded after coming here for years to discover that it's true what I've read on this site - you really can crawl over the wall into your neighbor's bathroom!

Blew my mind. I asked my friend looking at it if he thought he could get over. We weren't sure at first, but after getting up there it became clear to us that we could in fact get through.

See the things you learn on the internet.

“concerned about security”

Seems strange to me that anyone can get into your room if they want just by climbing over the front door. I'm not sure how that's even allowed.

As it is, I packed lightly for a getaway, so I wasn't too concerned about it. The way it is, this place has ceiling tiles in it. You just lift up the tile and there's space above them that you can crawl through. Come to think of it, you can get anywhere in the hotel by crawling through the ceiling.

“security breach”

Unbelievable, and I'm saying to anyone thinking of staying here, beware your valuables and your safety.

You can literally crawl right over your front door through the celiing tiles into your room. Also, you can literally crawl right over your bathroom through the ceiling tiles into your neighbors bathroom as well.

What the heck is up with this place? When my fiance and I couldn't enter our room after coming back from a lovely dinner at the restaurant up the street at the Holiday Inn (this hotel doesn't have one), they told us housekeeping must have exited out the front door, leaving the deadbolt latched on the back door. Well, they couldn't get the front door open.

So a maintenance guy (drunk) came with a stepladder and went right up through the ceiling tiles, crawled over the door and let himself out. My fiance and I were thankful at first, until she pointed out that anyone could get into our room if they wanted to. I began looking around the room, and sure enough, you can do the same in the bathrooms. If I wanted to -- IF -- then I could spy on my neighbors in their bathroom. How can Rodeway allow this?

I'm disgusted, and do not plan on staying at any Choice Hotels ever again.

“Rodeway Inn, sad state of disrepair”

Rodeway Inn Estes Park

21 Jul 2006

We stayed two nights at the Rodeway Inn and was surprised at the sad state of disrepair we saw there. There were ceiling tiles falling down in several different spots including in one of the rooms we had, in the hallways, and the window ledge needed work done on it. The outside door to our "belcony" had such a gap under it I was surprised we didn't have bugs or mice or something in our room. I was glad it wasn't winter , we would have had snow blowing into our room. The person behind the desk made it a point to say there would be "bisquits and gravy "on the breakfast bar in the mornings, and the first day there wasn't. The landscapeing out behind was in need of some, I should say a lot, of work. For what we were charged for the room it should have been alot nicer place, and it showed by the number of cars every morning, not many, and the vacancy sign was always on.
