“Great spot for downtown access”

Providence Marriott Downtown

My purpose in visiting Providence was business. Although, having stayed at this location, I would certainly bring the family back and stay. This location was perfect for me to walk to and from the RI Convention Center (~1 mile) each day. I rented a car because I had business in Warwick earlier in the week. Although, other than getting to the airport, only used the car once during the week to go sightseeing and get lost (sometimes a good thing).

The hotel is very nice, with comfortable beds. As other reviews point out, the hotel is much older. This is not a bad thing. It actually adds charm and character to the architecture. It also means thicker insulated walls and less sound intrusion from neighbors. Internet service was excellent. Easy to hook up and very fast.

The bar and restaurant were a little too upscale for me. However, they appeared to be very elegant with professional looking wait staff. The fitness room is split into two rooms. The room with cardio equipment has a view of the indoor pool. Has treadmills, bikes, and eliptical machines. The room with the resistance equipment is small, but has a decent set of free weights and universal machines.

If you can book at the Marriott downtown for under 100 per night, you are getting a good deal.

“Pleasantly surprised!”

Providence Marriott Downtown

31 Dec 2007

We visited friends in Providence and booked our stay at the Providence Marriott, and, needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was absolutely wonderful and we have stayed at other hotels that were rated higher, but couldn't have been any better! We would not hesitate to book another stay at this hotel!

“Nice Lobby - Rooms Average”

Providence Marriott Downtown

Orlando, Florida

I stayed at the Marriott Providence downtown a few weeks ago. It's the Marriott just off of I-95 near States St. I was here for a business meeting and only stayed one night.

There is plenty of parking. No valet parking available that I could see - which is fine. It has easy access back to I-95 and is only a few minutes from the Federal Hill restaurant district.

I visited at Xmas time and the lobby was beautiful. It looks refurbished and brand new. Very inviting. The staff was very friendly. Easy to check in though it was a long trek to my room.

They have a very nice fitness center and a pool, and a Business Center.

The restuarant looked nice, though we didn't eat dinner there. We did have breakfast and, though very very pricey ($14?) was good. They custom make omelets for you.

The room, however, was average. Though we were in non-smoking room, the hallway smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke, and some of it made its way into the room. The room itself is fairly basic. On the small side, with all the normal amenities. The bathroom was a bit worn.

It A/C / Heat is not central air. There's a unit below the window and it worked, but I could only get it to be cool or very hot in the room. The temp outside was about 25 degrees, but I'd rather be cool than sweaty so I set it to cool.

There's Internet but you are charged for it. In the morning, I did not get a bill under my door, but the front desk gladly printed it.

So, overall it was passable for a one or two night stay, but I wouldn't stay longer. The rate as okay ($189) for a downtown property, but the Westin I drove by looked nicer (from the outside anyway).

we had to go to providence for a show. Bid on priceline, $60.00 for a friday. easy to find. check in when using priceline, hotwire etc always a challenge. Put in basement, fine by me so long as i can see car. clean, yes.run down, yes.no outside noise. air con/heating loud but worked.ate at bar, food ok. silly to pay for internet in room but i did as i only paid $60.00 for room. I would never ever pay rack rate for this hotel. Am Marriott rewards member and use marriott a lot in other areas and am usually happy to pay going rate but thank goodness i didn't here. it was fine.
