I know that it was graduation weekend but this hotel needs a lot of work to get even a passing grade - disinterested staff and management that does not seem interested in what is going on at the property - I tried to reach out but got no response so the bad review results. An outdated property run by a staff that does not care - good location for university of Arizona events but nothing else - stay elsewhere if you care about service and room that you stay in

Room tip: Stay some where else

Thank you for writing a review of our property. I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations during the graduation of the University of Arizona. I have talked with many guests this weekend who had a great experience other than the weather being very warm during graduation on Saturday night. I appreciate your feedback which gives us an opportunity to improve. Thanks again!

I was here in mid-April for a conference, and it was a very nice venue. The conference rooms were convenient and well appointed (the chairs were more comfortable than many other venues) and the food was actually very good. I can see where the location would be a big draw for folks who need to be close to the University.

My individual room was very basic - no microwave or fridge - but there were ice machines available at the ends of the floor. The bed was comfy and there was a little mini balcony with one chair. One morning, maid service forgot the serving cups to go with the in-room coffee maker, but everything else was properly taken care of. The morning newspaper outside my door went unread, but there is a convenient desk and outlets for setting up your computer. Wi-fi is overpriced, in my opinion. Parking is a bit of a puzzle (look for spaces SPECIFICALLY labled for Marriott guests) but for my conference there was no extra parking charge. The two elevators seemed to be adequate, as there were no long waits. I thought I would take the stairs, one time, and found myself in a rather gross stairwell which did not have access to the lobby.

The conference rate for the rooms was $100 dollars per night, which I thought was very reasonable. The usual rate of 150+ seems to be based on the proximity to the University and not the actual rooms. Overall it was a very comfortable week and I can recommend this location for a 200-250 person conference.

Room tip: I was on the third floor, facing the lobby, but it wasn't overly noisy. I was on the opposite side from the elevators.

For the time I walked in into the hotel I was greeted at the door by the friendly staff. Jill was a wonderful person that helped me locate my room. As I entered the room, it was very clean and color coordinated. I am a local Tucson resident because I had to clean my apartment's carpet. I have been at the Marriott before many times to meet with business clients in the restaurant. The food is always well presented and the service is the best in town. When I stayed last week I had awesome dinner and headed back to my room. The employees in the lobby made me feel very welcome with outstanding customer service skills. In my past visits I've met Mark, the General Manager which has a very friendly and professional personality. He is always making rounds around the lobby, restaurant and kitchen area to make sure the guests are satisfied and the staff is on task. I had an awesome stay, very peaceful and enjoyable.

I have stayed here three times just this year. As a platinum elite member, this close to platinum lifetime, I like amenities. I used the mobile check in application on my iPhone this time. Was told my room was ready, went to check in and it wasn't. Went about my day, got another text to check in and went back to the hotel. Had to wait in line at the mobile check in counter longer than my travel partner at the regular counter. Her room still wasn't ready so they upgraded her to a suite with a fridge. I always request a fridge as well. Didn't get an upgrade, didn't get a fridge. She's a silver and this did NOT sit well. I needed some waters and the lounge was closed. I was told by the front desk they were free in my room, which the weren't as I did not get upgraded. They also didn't have them at the desk. Management might want to rethink the way they treat their loyalty customers or at least educate their staff. Also why is the lounge locked during the day?

Self park is kind of a pain but the property is quiet. Do like the location. Oh and a balcony that overlooks the top of the roof with all the AC equip is really not that spectacular.

Trying to decide if this is where I want to spend my future Marriott dollars.

Overall not terribly impressed by the staff although they weren't rude and when I finally was able to get a water in the lounge Ricky was super nice.

The title outlines a few cool things I realized.

While at the Marriott University, I never experienced wildness, loudness, or the such. Seeing how the hotel is located steps from U of A and has attendees doing visits for multiple reasons, you may assume the opposite. But this just isn't true! The hotel was pleasant, quiet but busy with a steady flow of people at the bar and coming/going.

From the time I drove up, I was greeted by a chipper, young man who I found out was not only a helpful escort with my bags to the room but really smart and clever. He was a graduate of the university and well-read, relatable. It showed because he picked up contextual statements during my time of clearing my car out. Also, he had a great personality that was a perfect mix of resolved and comical, helpful and respective of space/things.

After being escorted in by Tim, I was greeted by Mark, the front desk attendee. He was super helpful with some recommendations on food, lounges, and things in Tucson, as he was checking me in. Also, he took the time to humor me with his March Madness picks and thoughts as I lamented to U of A loss! (Go Florida!) Up to date - Mark has worked on a few different request for me and they all panned out. Plus, I got a gift bag w/ Sour Patch kids + Cherry Coke (I think this was left by my Visit Coordinators though - but hey Credit the MESSENGER/Delivery Man on this one - right?!)

I am wrapping up a 2 day stay now and hope to be able to share more cool info post-leaving but for now, I'll say "this was a stellar stay."

Professional, present, and customer service spot-on!
