My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at the Northey Street House B&B, and our experience there was simply marvelous! We had planned our trip to Boston the same weekend the universities in Boston were celebrating graduation, and we couldn't find a decent hotel with any reasonably priced vacancies, so we looked for places to stay in Salem instead. We were both a little nervous about spending time at a B&B, but our time at the Northey B&B has definitely changed our minds about them for the better.
Flora was a wonderful and welcoming hostess, and she was helpful in answering our questions and providing us with pamphlets about the local attractions. The house is beautiful and well-maintained. The Northey B&B was also in a good location. It was off a main road, so you couldn't hear the busy traffic; but it was close enough that Salem's attractions were a mere 10-15 minute walk away. My boyfriend and I spent a day in Boston, and the train depot was only a 10 minute walk from the B&B.
We stayed in the Garden Room, which was nice and private because it has its own entrance from the outside. Our room was spotless and beautifully decorated, and it had its own private bathroom. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and well-supplied with toiletries. Flora's kitchen was stocked with snacks, and my boyfriend really liked her open-kitchen policy, especially when he wanted a midnight snack. In the mornings, Flora provided us with a delicious and hearty breakfast of fruit, pastries, quiche, and bread pudding both mornings we were there.
Overall, we had a lovely time there and wouldn't think twice about staying there again.
