We stayed at the Northey Street House B&B on our first trip to Salem. We were looking forward to a quiet, quaint little town to visit and explore. We found Salem to have a bit more traffic than expected, but was still a great place to visit. The Northey Street House initially seemed a bit further from the center of town than we had hoped, but we quickly learned that it was a pleasant little walk to most of the attractions. We enjoyed the fact that the house is close enough to the attractions, so that we could walk wherever we wanted to go, but far enough out of the way that we were able to leave the traffic and noise behind, and relax in a quiet, comfortable environment. We stayed in their Garden Room, and really enjoyed it. The pictures on their site don't do the room justice. It's really lovely and relaxing. The bed was really comfortable, and we were able to relax and lounge on our little weekend getaway. I think we most enjoyed breakfast time, there at the B&B. There were great pastries from a local artisan bakery, and plenty of good things to eat. We were fortunate to have really great weather while we were there, so everyone sat outside on the deck and enjoyed breakfast and lively conversation. Even Charlie joined in on the chatting! We found our hosts to be very nice and accommodating, and they made the house feel very inviting and comfortable for guests.

“excellant place to stay”

Northey Street House Bed and Breakfast

22 Jun 2008

Beautiful hisrtorial 200 year old home on lovely tree lined quiet street located off the beaten path, yet 10-15 minute walk fromj all the major attractions of Salem. The inn is imaculately clean, with large rooms decorated in the colonial syle, air conditioned, very comfrotalbe beds, plenty of seating, large closets and drawer space, plenty of windows for the view outside, huge private bath and candles on the fireplace make the inn seem just like home. T he breakfast served in the large homey kitchen not only was delicous but enough to last you till the dinner hour. The host and owner of the inn is very gracious and exstremly helpful not only
with care at the inn but also with directions to attractions, and tips on the little known great finds of the city. You will meet interesting people around the breakfast talble in the morning. The also offers a large deck for sitting off the kitchen, a lovely garden area, and plenty of off street parking for all the guests. The ammenites offered here are wonderful, from the various toileteris, the history of the home, the sodas, tea, coffee and a variety of snack food in the kitchen available at all times are truly a plus. My husband and i truly enjoued our stay there and would definelty do it again. The inn, rooms, parking, host, ammenties, views, breakfaat, safety are superior. The resident inn dog, is wonderfully welcoming and great with all the vistors. My husband and myself would stay nowhere else in Salem.

This was our first time on a B&B, but it sure won't be the last. We loved the place, it was within a walking distance to all the attractions. Our host, Flora, was amazing, our room was spacious and extra clean - The breakfast was delicious and really healthy.
I highly recommend the Northey Street House - will definitely go back.

“Simply Marvelous!”

Northey Street House Bed and Breakfast

20 May 2008

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at the Northey Street House B&B, and our experience there was simply marvelous! We had planned our trip to Boston the same weekend the universities in Boston were celebrating graduation, and we couldn't find a decent hotel with any reasonably priced vacancies, so we looked for places to stay in Salem instead. We were both a little nervous about spending time at a B&B, but our time at the Northey B&B has definitely changed our minds about them for the better.
Flora was a wonderful and welcoming hostess, and she was helpful in answering our questions and providing us with pamphlets about the local attractions. The house is beautiful and well-maintained. The Northey B&B was also in a good location. It was off a main road, so you couldn't hear the busy traffic; but it was close enough that Salem's attractions were a mere 10-15 minute walk away. My boyfriend and I spent a day in Boston, and the train depot was only a 10 minute walk from the B&B.
We stayed in the Garden Room, which was nice and private because it has its own entrance from the outside. Our room was spotless and beautifully decorated, and it had its own private bathroom. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and well-supplied with toiletries. Flora's kitchen was stocked with snacks, and my boyfriend really liked her open-kitchen policy, especially when he wanted a midnight snack. In the mornings, Flora provided us with a delicious and hearty breakfast of fruit, pastries, quiche, and bread pudding both mornings we were there.
Overall, we had a lovely time there and wouldn't think twice about staying there again.

My wife, son and I stayed for a week at this wonderful place. It is perfectly located near the train station and downtown Salem with a short walk to both.

Flora was a great host and prepares a wonderful quiche. Fresh bread from the local bakery was served each day along with fruit. She provided us with all our travel information and was a helpful guide to our vacation in the Boston area.

The home is nice, but the service made the stay. Thanks Flora for taking care of us.
