The Kirk House is a perfect place to stay when in Friday Harbor. The rooms are cozy and immaculate. The hosts Debbie and Allen are very friendly and helpful. They take extra time in their busy day to make you feel welcome and to provide insider tips about the island. The breakfast each morning was delicious! We stayed four nights and looked forward to a new delightful creation each morning. The location is also wonderful. My mother and I did not have a car and it was a very easy walk from the ferry (there is a hill, but it is not bad). I highly recommend the Kirk house for anyone looking for a getaway on San Juan Island.

We spent a long weekend that brought together friends from three states. All three couples had a great time in fine surroundings with excellent food and matchless hospitality. In fact, we enjoyed all of Friday Harbor and the rest of the island, too. So, if possible, we'll be back.

This is a lovely place to stay. The house is full of American charm, with large sofas and a wonderful fireplace. There are four rooms in total. We stayed in the garden room, which is probably the smallest of the four. It was still fine, with some lovely touches, including french doors and some original stained glass.
Debbie, the host, goes out of her way to make your stay an
enjoyable one. Her Legendary breakfasts live up to expectations and the afternoon teas are worth popping back for.
It is the little touches that make a stay at Kirk House so worthwhile. Being able to relax in the garden, the filtered water, homemade cookies, all that kind of thing.

The Kirk House is competively priced, Friay Harbour is expensive. The Best Western costs far more and does not have the charm, service nor location of Kirk's.

To explain the above rating, we thought that the location, the B and B style and the food were almost excellent. However, the hostess was too business like. It felt like we were just another item on her day's check list and that she didn't truly care about the experience for us (i.e. we had to pay our last night's stay upon arrival..another business check list item..). We didn't write the latter part of this in the B and B's log book as a courtesy. if she were personable and warm we would have enjoyed it much better; hence, a better rating.
