The Inn is a good location, walking distance from the ferry (a couple blocks so not with big luggage) but what we didn't know was the room we booked (the Hideaway) was another block or so further away from the Inn. When we got to the room, that wasn't a problem, it was very nice, skylights, new, great bathroom and very quiet. However, when we checked in we didn't get offered the same "service" as other guests who checked in to stay at the main Inn, even though the room cost just as much (like being told about parking, games, cookies in the afternoon, continental b-fast, etc. We felt like 3rd class citizens). We then discovered in our room though that the Hideaway came with free b-fast at this great cafe/diner across the street that was way better than continental b-fast. So as long as you know the above, its great. I would encourage the Inn to disclose the fact that the Hideaway is not attached to the hotel and that guests can still use the hotel (and sister hotel, the Friday Harbor Inn) amenities.

The hotel is very cute, but beware of the noise!!! It's located in Friday Harbor, across the street from a very popular bar and next door to the grocery store! The bar had karoke until 2am and the grocery store started the trash compactor at 5am! We didn't sleep at all.

We have stayed at a few B&Bs and I would have to rate this one as the best. The Inn is tastefully decorated and still retains this historic feel. We stayed in Shaw #8 room (with private bath). The queen bed was unbelievable comfortable! It rivaled our own bed at home.

Wonderful breakfast (scones!), even an afternoon tea/coffee, lemonade and cookies.

A wonderful staff that graciously kept our bags for us while we sea kayaked for three days. Thank you!

I can't believe there are not more reviews for this little gem online. It is only a block from the ferry landing and is right in the middle of downtown Friday Harbor. Don't miss the Front Street Ale House while you are there!

We stayed for 2 nights in May, '04 and very much enjoyed this small inn. We stayed in a room with a shared bath, and never had any incoveniences with this. The views from the "harbor view rooms" are nice, but in my opinion, not necessary -- every room is charmingly appointed. The scones served up hot from the oven each morning are fabulous, too. Definitely hope to be back again one day.
