Found info on Harrison House Suites in a San Juan Island B&B publication. Was on Orcas Island last weekend and decided to extend our stay in the San Juans so called the San Juan Island B&B toll-free number to get availability info. Was told by person at 800 number that YES, They had just had a call from the Harrison House Suites and they had a suite available. I called and spoke to the HH Suites directly and was told they had a wonderful 1 bedroom suite with a kitchen and it'd be $250 a night. We thought it was a steep price but because of the description in the B&B publication we thought okay, it had a view of the harbor, a fireplace and a hot tub. So we waited a couple hours for the Orcas to San Juan ferry and 3 plus hours later we made our way to the B&B. Unfortunately, we learned our suite was not in the Harrison House Suites, but in the basement of a restored building adjacent called the Tucker House. When I say basement, I mean basement. Although it was furnished and fairly clean, there was NO WAY it was worth $250 a night. Dave one of the owners showed us the suite and was nice enough. However, when we called the Harrison House Suites #, we spoke to the other proprietor Anne Marie who denied misleading us, was demeaning and derogatory and basically told me that if "I had made reservations the proper way, I would have known exactly what I was getting". We did NOT want to stay, but she refused to cancel the charge on our credit card citing that she had turned down people all day for the room. Funny, we had only made the reservation 3 hours before. Anne Marie was downright rude and obviously doesn't understand the impact of her attitude that we as the customer WERE WRONG and she was right. We did NOT appreciate being treated the way we were treated and it's too bad because in this day when people share info widely across the Internet it will have an impact. Bottom line is there is NO WAY you'd know from the ads in the publication that there are actually 3 buildings owned by Anne Maria on the same lot because each location has a different website address and you won't know what you're getting.
The room we were in was the Middleton Suite which had no view, was adjacent to a busy, loud street, had a gravel parking area, cars parked 6 inches from the window of our room, you could hear every footstep and every sound from the first floor directly over our heads, bathroom was dusty and had a tattered rug on the floor, cheap furnishings. Breakfast was okay, nice that coffee, juice and milk were provided. Would not stay here again - it definitely was NOT worth $250 - we were totally ripped off!
