What a quiet and peaceful place, my fiance and I celebrated our engagement over a long weekend. The owners helped supply flowers and information whenever I needed it and the breakfast each morning was great.
Can't wait to come back.

Chocolate hazelnut waffles with home-made syrup and whipped cream appeared on the first morning; Larry's own oatmeal creme brule served with local apple sausages, fruit smoothies and decadent scones greeted us the second day; and the individual pepper and cheese quiches with house-made salsa, fresh fruit, hash browns, honey ham and fresh biscuits with honey butter on the third day made us realize we were going to be forgetting about any lunch at all that day. These great breakfasts created by the Trumpeter Inn owners and innkeepers, Larry and Cheryl Hoppe, defined a delicious stay in an incredibly idyllic valley just outside of Friday Harbor. What more could we tell you about? Well, maybe the down pillows and comforters and cozy rooms complete with warm bathrobes and slippers, or the chocolate truffles on the bedside table, or the state-of-the-art new kitchen that held fresh baked cookies and a fridge of juices for guests all day, or the flower garden still beautiful at the end of September, or the fog blanketing the valley the night of the Harvest Moon visible from my balcony in the Bay Laurel room, or all the Orcas we saw on the whale watch trip arranged for us by Cheryl, or the relaxing massage, or even the door-to-door transportation to Seatac arranged for by Cheryl while we ate her home-made carrot muffins on the ferry. This was an amazing, restful and fun stay in this beautiful bed and breakfast inn, lovingly and creatively cared for by this dynamic duo. This was my first occasion to visit here, and thanks to Cheryl and Larry, will definitely not be my last. Thank you both for such a delightful stay!

We spent Four nights at this Bed and Breakfast. The Inn was superb and the breakfasts delicious. Best of all were the inn keeper, Cheryl and Larry. They mad us feel like we were at home. They also gave us great advice about what to do and where to go. I would stay with them again without hesitation.
We rate a B&B by how well we sleep and how well we eat. The Trumpeter Inn gets top "zzz's" and top "mmm's!". You will sleep well and eat even better when staying with Larry and Cheryl. Larry goes out of his way to make sure you are well orientated to the Island, and Cheryl makes sure you are well fed to do the exploring. As a bonus, Cheryl did us a huge favor and printed out our boarding passes for our flight home! (Wow, service!) We found these folks by accident (or was it?) and no breakfast or bed since (including my own) meets what we experienced at the Trumpeter Inn. Kudos Larry and Cheryl!

We stayed at the Trumpeter Inn for 3 nights (Aug. 1, 2, 3) and felt completely pampered. Hosts Larry and Cheryl Hoppe went out of their way to meet our needs and treat us royally, from picking us up at the ferry, to finding us a car rental, to guiding our tour of the island, to returning us to the ferry. The location outside Friday Harbor was set among rolling hills and pasture land home to cows, llamas, horses. What a peaceful setting! When we discovered that a walk into Friday Harbor was not going to be as easy as we had anticipated, Larry suggested a car rental company that would bring a vehicle to us -- almost on the spot. It worked out beautifully and allowed us to spend one full day touring the island. The breakfasts were "spectacular" and the late afternoon/evening cookies and cool drinks were also special. We stayed in the "Sage" room and found it very attractive and comfortable as well as nicely ventilated with corner windows. When we left, my husband (who traditionally doesn't like bed and breakfast inns) said, "I think this is the nicest place we have ever stayed!"
