We just wanted to say that we had an excellent time at Wildwood Manor! My boyfriend proposed to me while we were staying on San Juan for a few nights. We went whale watching and then took a hike at Lime Kiln State Park near Dead Man's Bay. It was beautiful! Every meal at Wildwood Manor was delicious! Michael was so helpful when suggesting places to eat and things to do. We had such a great time! And now we have a special place to return to :)

P.S. Don't forget to visit Mona! The island's pet camel! She's great!

My wife and I stayed two night the end of May. The B&B is located about 10 minutes drive from Friday Harbor and is located just off the Hwy (really a rural road) to Roche Harbor. Easy to find. It is set on a hill in the woods. Ample parking. We arrived around 3pm and were greeted by Michael. He helped us with the bags. After removing our shoes as directed by the sign (slippers were provided if you wanted them), Michael gave us a stocking footed tour of the B&B. There was a small snack area with free cookies, tea, coffee, cucumber water (so refreshing), nuts, and other goodies for guests. For those rainy days there is a the well stocked DVD shelf, books, local menus, pictures, and games. Back outside the tour included a quick walk around the 11 acre grounds where there are many secluded and beautify areas to walk or relax in a chaise lounge, hammock, or patio chairs to watch birds, raccoons, or deer who frequent the B&B (we saw them all). We happily moved into the Decatur Room on the top floor. Elegantly decorated with a nice large bathroom, robes in the closet, and small sitting area. The window looked out across the forested grounds to the water in the distance. At the end of the tour we met John who was equally welcoming. The next morning John and Michael cooked a wonderful full and filling breakfast. The menu changes daily. They are very willing to accommodate food intolerances so let them know. We've been to many B&Bs around the world, this one is near the top of our list. Excellent, great hosts and relaxing setting. Most of the bedrooms are on the upper floors, so this may make it awkward for people with some disabilities. If in doubt ask the guys. The only other note in general about island living is that most of the water comes from wells. While purified and softened it can have a slight scent of minerals, sulfur, etc. Michael pointed this out on our tour, we hardly noticed. Besides don't people pay extra for a mineral spa treatment!! You can't go wrong with Wildwood Manor B&B.

We will definitely stay at the Wildwood Manor again! Michael made us feel so welcome & at ease. The location is absolutely beautiful. The house & rooms are furnished/decorated with exquisite taste & are extremely comfortable. Michael prepared a wonderful breakfast and baked delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies for our snacking pleasure. You can't pick a better place to stay in Friday Harbor, or in all of Washington state for that matter. BRAVO!!

OK. Have spent the last eight days and ten and a half hours [give or take the time difference between the UK and San Juan Island] trying to think of something original to say about this place. It's hard because all the other reviewers have already said the things I wanted to say and used the words I planned to use.

We will never forget:

- the most comfortable bed we EVER slept in [splash out and go for the suite - it is absolutely worth it!]
- the most creatively original, beautifully prepared and presented breakfasts we've ever eaten [ever started the day with panacotta? You must]
- nursing a cup of tea and eating a homemade chocolate chip cookie on the deck, watching the birds with the snowcapped mountains of Canada in the background [just like the photos]
- the deer just hanging about in the garden

Michael, John and Florence have created a very special place and although they have a beautiful setting, the reason this place is so unique is because of them: they are honestly the loveliest and most genuinely welcoming hosts we have ever met in all our travels over many years.

They welcomed us into their home, made us feel instantly at ease and treated us like very special friends. They booked our restaurants and whale watching tour [ywhile you are there you must visit the orca with Captain Jim and eat at the Duck Soup place just down the road]. They pampered us in a way which felt effortless although they must work extremely hard behind the scenes to maintain the amazingly high standard that they have set. for themselves.

We both have a momento from Wildwood Manor on our desks at work to remind us of one of the most magical weekends of our lives. You can keep your expensive health spas, we are going back to Wildwood. And I am counting the days.

Note to TripAdvisor: we think you should invent a whole new descriptive category for the very rare places like Wildwood Manor who only ever get 5 star reviews!

Drove up thru the woods (the entrance to their 11 acres) only to be met by the owners and some deer. What a fantastic place (clean, serene, and nice!!!). My wife and I were exploring the NW and the SanJuan Islands fell on our list and she found Wildwood on Trip Advisor. Michael makes superb breakfasts (even asks if you have any food allergies). He also makes great cookies and had Reese's peanut butter cups available. The rooms are perfect; beds great; views to "die for"; and a hammock outside that called to me (my wife saw the deer almost kissing me as I was asleep). If you had to model a B&B after anyplace.....this would be it. The sad thing is that John only spends one week a month there (works in San Francisco), which makes Michael having to run this by himself. I can't imagine him having more time on his hands. Also ask him where to eat and what to do....he gives good advice.
