I found this place by searching online, and what a find! This B & B is nestled in 11 acres of forested splendor. If you like feeling secluded in the woods, this place is for you! Excellent view of the water, woods and wildlife. Excellent hosts! Michael was a pleasure to visit with and has thought of every detail to make your stay comfortable. Rooms are well appointed, hosts are beyond friendly, and the breakfasts are excellent. Breakfasts alternate between sweet and savory each day. Peach and blueberry waffles one morning, and vegetable quiche the next day. Each morning I woke up to the deer feeding outside my window and birds singing in the trees. What a wonderful retreat. I have never repeated a visit to a B & B before, but I will be coming back regularly. Michael was such a warm and friendly host that we felt like family after our 3-night stay.

“The Perfect Getaway!”

Wildwood Manor Bed and Breakfast

9 Jun 2008

We just returned from a one night stay at Wildwood Manor. This was actually our second time there - our first stay was about two years ago. I have to say that both visits were extremely satisfying and relaxing. We really couldn't have asked for a better getaway experience.
First of all, Friday Harbor is a great little town in itself and is perfect for a weekend stay or longer. We rented mopeds and did a little island tour today. Yesterday we rented a canoe and paddled around one of the lakes. We also toured the town and had some awesome meals at the local eateries.
Second, Wildwood Manor is an experience in itself! The driveway to the house is very serene; we felt like we were in a portal of some kind- surreal. Just pulling up to Wildwood the first time we were there, we knew it would be a special place. I think it's just the attention to detail and cleanliness the place has - and that's just the outside!
The inside is very spacious and well thought out. The whole first floor is dedicated to common areas such as a beautiful high ceiling reading room with a fireplace. This room looks out onto a deck and beyond that ocean views. The kitchen is big and inviting. I spent some time in here talking story with Michael and Sis as they prepared breakfast. The dining room is the perfect size and fits a good sized dining table and several smaller private tables. Of course, the decor in all these rooms is impeccable and oh so comfortable.
Our room was the San Juan Suite. It was a one bedroom room. There's a nice "living room" which overlooked the garden and ocean. The room is big with the most comfortable bed we ever slept in and the bathroom was the perfect size. The two days we stayed were very nice days but I have to add that the light in our room was just amazing!
My wife and I had some time yesterday afternoon so we decided to sit in the garden with our books and some tea. So we're sitting in the afternoon sun with some tea and some fresh baked cookies from Michael. We must have seen like five deer in the garden. It was pretty amazing. I guess that deer just kind of hang out in the garden. It really added to an already wonderful experience.
Lastly, Michael, John, and Florence are the most wonderful hosts! They are good human beings and you can tell right off that all they want is for you to enjoy your time there. We really can't say enough about this place and its proprietars.
We will definitely be going back to Friday Harbor and Wildwood Manor!

We just wanted to say that we had an excellent time at Wildwood Manor! My boyfriend proposed to me while we were staying on San Juan for a few nights. We went whale watching and then took a hike at Lime Kiln State Park near Dead Man's Bay. It was beautiful! Every meal at Wildwood Manor was delicious! Michael was so helpful when suggesting places to eat and things to do. We had such a great time! And now we have a special place to return to :)

P.S. Don't forget to visit Mona! The island's pet camel! She's great!

My wife and I stayed two night the end of May. The B&B is located about 10 minutes drive from Friday Harbor and is located just off the Hwy (really a rural road) to Roche Harbor. Easy to find. It is set on a hill in the woods. Ample parking. We arrived around 3pm and were greeted by Michael. He helped us with the bags. After removing our shoes as directed by the sign (slippers were provided if you wanted them), Michael gave us a stocking footed tour of the B&B. There was a small snack area with free cookies, tea, coffee, cucumber water (so refreshing), nuts, and other goodies for guests. For those rainy days there is a the well stocked DVD shelf, books, local menus, pictures, and games. Back outside the tour included a quick walk around the 11 acre grounds where there are many secluded and beautify areas to walk or relax in a chaise lounge, hammock, or patio chairs to watch birds, raccoons, or deer who frequent the B&B (we saw them all). We happily moved into the Decatur Room on the top floor. Elegantly decorated with a nice large bathroom, robes in the closet, and small sitting area. The window looked out across the forested grounds to the water in the distance. At the end of the tour we met John who was equally welcoming. The next morning John and Michael cooked a wonderful full and filling breakfast. The menu changes daily. They are very willing to accommodate food intolerances so let them know. We've been to many B&Bs around the world, this one is near the top of our list. Excellent, great hosts and relaxing setting. Most of the bedrooms are on the upper floors, so this may make it awkward for people with some disabilities. If in doubt ask the guys. The only other note in general about island living is that most of the water comes from wells. While purified and softened it can have a slight scent of minerals, sulfur, etc. Michael pointed this out on our tour, we hardly noticed. Besides don't people pay extra for a mineral spa treatment!! You can't go wrong with Wildwood Manor B&B.

We will definitely stay at the Wildwood Manor again! Michael made us feel so welcome & at ease. The location is absolutely beautiful. The house & rooms are furnished/decorated with exquisite taste & are extremely comfortable. Michael prepared a wonderful breakfast and baked delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies for our snacking pleasure. You can't pick a better place to stay in Friday Harbor, or in all of Washington state for that matter. BRAVO!!
