I booked a room online because the website was offering an end of summer special for $129/night. Shortly after booking I received a voicemail from the hotel regarding my credit card. I called back thinking I must have mistyped the numbers and gave the credit card info again. I was told I was all set. When I arrived, there was no room available and apparently I should have gotten a phone call to let me know. I was offered a room behind the Inn at the Comfort Inn for the same rate or at a sister hotel in a neighboring town that wasn't on the ocean. I was so disappointed that I drove 3.5 hours for a stay at the Comfort Inn. However it turned out to be a great room considering the low opinion I previously had of the place. As for the Inn at Newport Beach, the front desk was not sincere in the apology. The clerk called the supervisor to confirm my reservation at the Comfort Inn was all set. The supervisor did not have the decency to come out and speak to me in person but rather dictated instructions over the phone to her staff. I was truly disappointed and there was certainly a lack of communication. I would never book a room there again. Especially since after moving to the other hotel the Inn had a vacancy sign. I guess the one night I wanted to spend there wasn't worth it to them. Perhaps if I had booked a longer stay I would have been welcome.
