My husband and I stayed at the Sarah Kendall House this July and found it to be a true disappointment. While the gardens are lovely and the downstairs public rooms are nicely decorated, our room (Point Garden) was dark and dank, not the light-filled room depicted on the website. The air conditioner was very noisy and prevented us from sleeping. The bathroom was tiny, the shower tile cracked, the shower curtain mildewed at bottom. The sheets were ancient, unironed and unmatched (!) For what we were paying (upwards of $220 when tax was included) this was not what we expected.
The most distressing part of the stay were the terrible hosts. The innkeepers were largely unseen and, when they were (at breakfast in the mornings, for example) they were short and curt. No effort was made to make our stay pleasant.
The Sarah Kendall House is conveniently located, but this is all. Food was mediocre, rooms poor, service terrible. Stay elsewhere, perhaps up above Thames Street where innkeepers will truly treat you as their guests.
