My husband and I just spent a long weekend in Newport at the Sarah Kendall House and really had a wonderful visit! The house is in a quiet part of town surrounded by other beautiful historical houses with views of the water, but still within a 5 minute walk to everything. (We parked our car on Friday and didn't use it again till Sunday)
The Sarah Kendall House was beautifully decorated and our room - the Sarah Kendall room - was very charming. The rooms convey the historical feel, but with modern ammenities like a flat screen TV and mini refrigerator. The innkeepers, Fran and Bryan, were very hospitable but unintrusive at the same time. They wanted to make sure we had everything we needed and then left us alone! The breakfasts were very good and there was quite a variety of food- muffins, bagels, fruit, etc . Breakfast is from 8:00-9:30 and is served hot when you get to the table, instead of sitting on a hot tray for an hour. I thought this was very nice, instead of having soggy food, like some other B&B's.
We really had a delightful time!
