The Red Parrot is at the hub of the main intersection in Newport. It is a large brick building. You cannot miss it. It summons you. But do yourself a favor and keep walking. There is nothing at all special about this place. My husband, teenage son and I came here after a show this week and the service was just horrific. It was about 9:30 pm, people were at the bar, we were seated at a table near the bar but we may as well have been in Siberia. First of all, the very young hostess looked at us like we were annoying her when we walked into the restaurant to be seated. No smile, no follow me, nothing. The waitress we had was very nice but she vanished for about 15 minutes after bringing our drinks without taking our order. We were almost ready to leave money for the drinks on the table and find somewhere else to eat because we just needed a quick bite after the show before heading back to the hotel. We stuck it out and she came and apologized and was wonderful after that. The food was ok. The best thing at our table was the burger my son ordered. He loved it and it was big and looked delicious. I wouldn't return here though.
