The Erin Go Bragh is a beautiful sailing craft, and her crew is extreamly friendly, intelligent, and knowledgable. If you are looking for a more intimate sailing experience than 50 people on a Cat, then this is the boat to charter. Along with my girlfriend and I there were just three other passangers.
Just to give you an idea as to how knowledgable Capt. Bill is, hearing that there was some inclement weather north of Puerto Rico, Bill decided to sail further south than usual to Vieques
so that we would miss this. The sail was longer then usual, but the weather and conditions for snorkeling were great! We only hit some light rain on the trip back, but we saw the largest and most beautiful rainbow I had ever seen! Futhermore, this was my first time out on a good size sail boat and also my first time snorkeling, so I enjoyed the extra time on the boat. Bill pointed out sights of interest along the way and talked about his life and times in Puerto Rico. He and his wife were wonderful hosts and did everything possible so that we would have a great trip. If you want to help out with the sails and the anchor you can (I did a little), or you can just sit back and enjoy the ride.
The boat itself has a wooden hull and interior, with big tall sails.
It's about 50 feet long, so there was plenty of room for seven people. I even laid out and got some sun. That day they flew the German flag in honor of the three German passengers. A nice touch I thought.
After snorkeing for about 45 minutes, we came back to the boat and had a wonderful lunch of chicken and spare ribs, with a nice salad. There was plenty of good food to eat!
I highly recommend sailing on the Erin Go Bragh. It will be a most memerable and enjoyable experience.
