We have just returned from a weekend break to Carcassonne by Ryanair from Liverpool and we had a great time. We
hired a car and travelled round the area. Beautiful weather, not like at home, and we found a gem to stay the first night which exceeded our expectations in every way. Alix and Henri are perfect hosts and helped us choose a brilliant find for our first evening meal at Carassonne Golf Club, just down the road. We stayed in the Tower Room and enjoyed the French breakfast and even bought some of the homemade marmalade which we now enjoy every morning! We certainly recommend a stay here, indeed it was the best of the three we chose and would hope to come again . Don't hestitate to book here , you won't be disappointed. Thank you to our hosts a much appreciated enjoyable stay with you. Lawrence and Maureen Walsh

“Beautiful French chateau”

This is a beautiful, peaceful, and tasteful former vineyard, now a small hotel run by two charming people. Alix (Madame de Sonis) makes lovely breakfasts and is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding country and its history. The rooms are lovely, spacious, as are the grounds, and there is a swimming pool.

“A fantastic find near Carcassonne”

Domaine de Maran is a delightful 2 bedroom Bed and Breakfast Inn in Cavanac, an easy 4 km ride to the Cite of Carcassonne. We enjoyed a wonderful 2 day stay there in mid-May 2007. The owner/operator Alix de Sonis and her husband live in his family's home on a wonderful estate with a beautiful pond, swimming pool and acres of blooming poppies (in spring). The room we stayed in was elegant and large sparcely decorated with fine furniture and art. The bath was large and very modern. Our hostess made fabulous breakfasts with her homemade jam and organic breads etc. In addition, the proprietors were a wealth of information about the region, the sights, restaurants, and shopping. Alix family is originally from Ireland and she, though thoroughly French, speaks fluent English. We arrived as strangers and left as friends.
