“Not too good”

Fleischer's Hotel

24 Jun 2008

We stayed in Fleischer Hotel for two days in June 08. The room was very poor. The walls had marks all over them and our room faced out onto the train station which meant that the noise was very bad. We requested a double bed but got two single beds thrown together. We couldn't open the windows because below was were the guests smoked outside. There were no tea & coffee facilities and the hair dryer didn't work. Thankfully we didn't use the room during the day but it was not up to the standard you should expect for the price and we would recommend you view the room in this hotel if you can before accepting it. The breakfast was ok with good selection but the evening meals are staggeringly expensive at over 400KR per person. Nobody at the checkout desk asked us how our stay was and we didn't complain as we felt we would have been just been moved and the problem would not have been solved. This hotel is too old and needs the back rooms to given a complete overhaul in sound and lighting.

“Station Master in your bedroom”

Fleischer's Hotel

21 Jun 2008

I can tell you that the first train to Voss from Bergen arrives at 6.20 in the morning and the first train to Bergen departs about an hour after that. If you are unlucky enough to stay at this hotel, you'll find the station master sharing your bedroom or thats what it feels like as the loudspeakers from the platform next door are so loud. Tiny rooms and disinterested staff. Avoid.

Went on a trip organised by DFDS from Newcastle, the ferry was disappointing, and no one seemed to have any info about our trip. A coach picked us up at 7.15am for a tour around Bergen (rather have been in bed).
We arrived at the hotel about 11.00ish, luckily our rooms were ready, everyone was exhausted.
We were given a deluxe room, over-looking the lake and snow covered mountains, lovely. Room well equiped, tea-making, iron, trouser press, tv, radio and mini bar (not that you'd use it at those prices.
Dinner was included in the package, good food, complimentary coffee to help yourself, I have never seen so many northerners drink that amount of coffee and tap water. A small beer is roughly £6. A pianist was entertaining a couple of nights, pleasantly relaxing.
Breakfast very good, most people were making up picnics, staff didn't seem to mind.
The Norway in a Nutshell tour which starts beside the hotel, is well worth doing (included in our package) consisted of a bus trip, a boat trip up the fjord to Flam, and back by rail. The scenery is absolutely stunning.
Prices on the ferry are not much cheaper than Norway now, used to be on par with the UK.

“Voss Fleischers;s hotle”

Fleischer's Hotel

25 Apr 2008

stayed at Fleischers hotel with wife, three year old daughter and six month old daughter. Travelled by boat from Newcastle which was a mistake for my wife who was seasick and the kids did not enjoy getting of the ferry at 2300 for customs, hairy drive to Voss which required snow chains for part of the journey. However hotel was excellant with good food, rooms and pool area. Only negative was the timing of tea at 1830 for little ones. Voss ski area good but probably limited for the more experianced skiiers. Would visist again would fly and hire a car or travel by train that stops next to the hotel, although we never noticed any trains arriving or departing

“Disappointing”

Fleischer's Hotel

1 Apr 2008

I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks - 16-30 March. it advertises itself as a luxury hotel and we booked a de-lux room as a special treat for our wedding anniversary. When we arrived the disappointment was over whelming. the hotel is sandwiched between a busy main road and a railway station, the photos produced by the hotel of the exterior of the building cleverly disguise this fact. Our 'de-luxe' room was small, tired and tatty. We changed rooms and were given a better room , but soon realised when the bar music kicked in where our room was and changed again. There were bathrobes in the room but no hooks to hang them on, a swimming pool in the basement but no heated towel rail in the bathroom to dry my swim suit. A picture above the bed was wonky in side the frame - there was just no attention to detail. At the weekends the hotel has conferences and is full of drunk middle aged men and weekenders. the food started off really well but in the second week they changed from a generous buffet with lots of choices to a set meal with no choice, no salad and barely any vegetables. the staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel had a nice lounge and bar area but the cons out weighed the pros too much and i would not go back here.
