A real home-from-home, but with food that's almost certainly better than you cook/get at home! The rooms are extremely comfortable with nice touches like mineral water, sherry, chocolates and good quality toiletries. It's a quiet location that's very suitable for exploring the beauty of mid-Wales - though you probably do need a car to get around this area. The food is simply terrific; I'm not sure I've ever eaten four consecutive dinners of this quality - and the breakfasts make you want to get up! Focused on homegrown and local produce, everything from bread to salad to meat & fish to puddings were just great. I can't wait to go back!

Stayed for two nights in this lovely property and will return. A warm welcome and a very pretty and good sized room with excellent bathroom, the room looked out onto stunning countryside with great walking potential.. Everything you would hope to find in a hotel, never mind a b&b. Fantastic breakfast with a great choice. Dinner exceeded all expectations - everything locally sourced and organic where possible, impeccably cooked.

Using Tripadvisor recommendation, I stayed at The Old Vicarage Dolfor for the first time yesterday. I was greeted warmly and shown to a delightful room.
The food was excellent, service impeccable - G&T delivered to my room in record time and early morning tea.. fabulous.

For all you fellow workers who find Newtown a place to avoid staying in... book early and stay at the Old Vicarage.
I have stayed in far worse 5 star hotels.. including many of the ones in the Mr& Mrs Smith Guide. Excellent value, great food great bed!

Stayed overnight and what a wonderful find! Beautiful rooms with wonderful outlook. The extras included would be what you expect of a 5 star hotel- dressing gowns, Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries, and even a small decanter of sherry at no extra cost.
Although we did not try the dinner as we were going to a party, the restaurant menu looked wonderful with local and organic produce. Breakfast was served in a beautiful dining room with crystal and china and was suberb!
The hosts were wonderful and even drove us to our party in the local village hall and picked us up at midnight, what more could you ask for!
They are open for Christmas and the New year and I cannot think of a more lovely place to spend the festive season , away from the hustle and bustle, but in a traditional way. Highly recommended.
