Stayed in this hotel 14 yrs ago, and again this year for the Bastille Day celebrations. There are some poor reviews here, but we like it a lot and I drink traditional ale and have a Fiat Panda.
Yes, it is not cheap, but a good treat rarely is and we enjoyed it just as much this time round as we did before.
If you want to park your car on the street and save 12 Euros a night, think how much some damage would cost to repair when you get back home. You don't have to pay 14 Euros each for a breakfast, you can obtain one much cheaper in the main square, but you won't get the choice or the second helpings. Likewise, you can eat much cheaper at a range of restaurants in the square, but it isn't quite the same.
We stayed in chalet 16 which was clean, comfortable and everything worked. More thought could have been given to the layout of this room, and more storage space is needed, but as somewhere to sleep, it was fine for a good nights kip.
There are several fixed price menu's in the restaurant, all of which can be viewed on the net in advance. We thought the food was wonderful, the service good and the general experience was excellent, but it is expensive, especially some of the drinks.
Montreuil is a lovely town to visit, and this years Bastille celebrations were excellent.Despite a heavy rain shower in the afternoon, the firework display went ahead as planned.
If you want somewhere for a treat, this is a good place to go.
