Two beaches either side of hotel (shale) but one windy the other less so.Rooms nice size, bedding and towels changed very often (sometimes daily) . TV. usual mix of foreign channels but two news BBC and CNN , 3 channels (Greek) show USA and Brit programs with subtitles in Greek mainly late at night. Towels for pool available, safe in room very small but adequate ,Pool area very nice but very small plunge pool really. Beds lovely and firm and air con amazing. Never heard any noise from road or other residents except some rather amorous lovers on beach screeching one night! Nice book swop system on tables outside lifts on all floors, we gained a lilo and then gave it back when we were leaving with an sun umbrella (maids do not slash blow ups left and throw stuff away (,which is nice for guests) .
Breakfast :Good things big variety for all tastes, exceptional service, bad things ,quality and quantity of fresh fruit ,no low fat yoghurt only full fat (but I loved it anyway) , bacon ghastly not cooked enough.Coffee vile (warm and insipid in flasks )and we brought in own tea bags as tea was cheap and thin served via hot water flasks.Staff generally very nice and welcoming and friendly , teenage daughters though some of the male staff(on desk) slightly leery .
Drinks at bar- a bit mean on the spirits considering the price. Waiters really nice and never inappropriate.
Residents are from everywhere we spoke to folks from Norway, France,Sweden and Denmark and two lovely blokes from Twickenham!Art museum 1 min away on oval palm tree roundabout and photo art gallery 3 mins up road going towards town opposite casino. New town shops not far away 10 mins, old town 15/20 mins ,it was VERY hot when we were there and so we hired car and went all over .Butterfly (moth reserve) was voted a hit, 1.5 hours up and 1.5 hours down.Best beach with sand and different types of beach bars Falaraki (bus stops near hotel), Lindos lovely but roasting, Symi trip 15 euros but 1.5 hours on boat but windy, Symi pretty and expensive ( but very nice) beach tiny and shale . Old town fabulous and art museums are buy ticket for 3 euros and get into all 3 art gallery and museums, great value for money and even teens liked it (maybe it was the air con!) Town museum is absolutely fabulous , unlike any other Greek museum(and we do a lot!) has explanations everywhere on plaques and artefacts ,well laid out and really good value for money, it takes a good couple of hours to do it justice,.Think we might come again when it is cooler.
