Me and my partner (im 25, hes 28) wanted a nice cheap last minute holiday so when we got offered the blue bay resort for £500 all inclusive we jumped at the chance. Now we are not fussy and just wanted somewhere to relax for a week. When we arrived at the hotel we thought WOW.... Marble throughout the reception area really gave it that 5 star feel. Receptionist was lovely gave us our room key and told us where to go. The rooms were great, lovely big bed, TV, bathroom was great with a nice big bath and shower, i forgot my hairdryer so added bonus having that in there too. Our balcony looked over the pools and the ampitheatre so a great spot (room 19)
We decided to go and have a look around. There was little bungalows also on the complex that had private pools! Very jealous when we saw these! There was 2 Main pools and a childs pool.all were lovely and clean, but freezing! By this time we were hungry so we went to the snack area, There was nothing on as they had just finished lunch so we waited, about half an hour later the trays were filled with fishfingers and chips......If you dont eat fish like me it was a little disapointing. I was expecting to be honest a snack bar where you order food and it is freshly made but we dealt with it and waited for dinner.
The animation team were all round the pool from 10am to 4pm... they work hard and if you do have kids they would be brilliant.
Dinner was a choice of Rice, Potatoes, Chicken/Lamb, and Chips. so in other words not much! we expected it to get better but well it didnt! some of the food was just inedible! When we asked why the response was.. "Not enough people here" Great! The breakfast was just as bad it caters for a german breakfast, cold meats and bread. hot food there was beans egg and hotdog sausages! tip! put your toast in first as it takes 6 times to get it brown!if your a true brit and want your daily breakfast go to ideal bar round the corner 5 euro for a full breakfast with a tea/coffee and orange juice! bargain!
One day we decided we wanted to go out of the hotel we had a walk around and realised we were in the middle of nowhere! The cash machine was a half an hour walk away (which we mistakenly decided to do at midday) there is 2 bars and one supermarket. the supermarket in the hotel didnt have a lot of stuff and yet again this was because it wasnt busy enough!
If you wanted a drink from the hotel you had to walk to the beach which was away at the bottom of the resort as that was the only bar that was open. The bar in the hotel you had to pay for....All inclusive??? <<confused me too! The animation at night was ok. 2 out of 7 nights there was nothing on, one of these times was because they all had the day off, Now iv worked as an animator and iv never known for them all to have the same day off! the other night was because there was a greek night which you had the pleasure of having to pay £20 euros each for!......All inclusive<<<<yet again confused!
I asked for air conditioning to which we were told you can only have it in July and August.....(Your not allowed to be hot any other time)
I then asked for WIFI and it says they have this... "Cant find the password" was the answer to that one so i asked about the computers i could see and they werent working! but be careful they charge you 5euro for an hour! go to the sports bar round the corner buy a drink its free wifi or its 1 euro!
One night they put sandwiches out (which was a first) so my partner went over to get one as he got there he saw a group of dutch putting all of them in their mothers bag, my partner asked them what they were doing! a waitress came over and started shouting at my partner for causing trouble! some of the staff are rude! especially the bar staff, the man isnt too bad but the women are horrendous, and they cant pull a pint to save there lives!
We went to rhodes town one night 15 euro in a taxi. It was nice but expensive!
Overall the holiday was relaxing but only cos there want much else to do except read a book! The hotel has the potential to be amazing! if they made it a true all inclusive and the food was better. what we got though i guess reflected in the price. I wouldnt say dont go as the food may get better as more people get there (we went 3rd May) but just be aware!
Room 20 and a balcony all the round so the sun was there all day but rooms 18 and 19 overlook the am...
