We stayed here April 19, 2004 for 3 nights. This is one hotel that I think you need to know the rooms before you go. We booked what we thought was a seaside suite. It was room #34. It is the only one of it's kind, and we were looking to something special. It was very expensive, over 350 Euros, as I recall. What a surprise! The only ocean view from the suite was up a flight of stairs to a terrace. This might have been somewhat OK, but the was blowing so hard most of the time we were there you could not even go up on the terrace. We were told afterward that the wind blows most of the year there except for the late summer months. The suite consisted of a double and a single bedroom and a large sitting/living room. There was only one bathroom, and the shower was so small (26"square) that if you dropped you soap there was no way you could bend over and pick it up- especially if you were tall. The unit had a self contained hot water tank, so only one person could take a shower at a time and then you had to wait for the tank to refill! The rooms were large and very clean, but terribly overpriced for what we got. We went to see some of the other rooms in the main building. Many of the rooms only have showers, but I am assuming that if they are in the main building, you won't run out of hot water. We saw room #215 and it had a tub, but no view. Most of the views are now blocked by apartments. We saw room #316 and it had a balcony with a nice view, so I am assuming the only the 3rd floor rooms have views. The hotel is built as such that the windows are too high to see out, so in order to have the view you need to go out on the balcony. The only reason I would come back here again is to go to Erice and eat at the Hotel Moderna, which is where we had one of the best meals on the trip. The preview review is correct - it is only worth a 1 or 2 night stay.
