When we first arrived we were allocated a ground floor room which had damp above the bed we asked for another room which was organised at once. There were some problems with the toilet which again were fixed quickly
not sure why people complained about the safe deposit boxes access times daily between 8am and 6pm seems more than adequate but take a lock for your suitcase and lock your valubles in that.
Hotel is well located near Baga beach, but travelling any further really needs taxis or motor scooters are cheap though driving around is quiet an experience. You can pay about 150 rupees (£2) a day for a bike or 350 rupees (£5) for cabs into town and back.
Room was basic, but well cleaned and linen changed daily. Charging for a fridge is a little cheeky but they seemed quiet lax on the "no outside food/drink" rule if you had one. we stayed in 106 no aircon but a fan, all rooms had balconys
Restaurant was basic but Lila Cafe and the very romantic J & A's are both a short walk away. J & A's was quite expensive (for India) about £35 for dinner for two with alcohol, Lila is better for breakfast/lunch - more like £6! Good German/Euro cooking milkshakes, cakes, bacon and eggs, fried potatoes........
There is another hotel across the river also called Riverside which faces the river this is more set back with a main hotel (about 6 rooms) next to the pool and bar a further two next to the pool and a forth block towards the back with another pool. There is also a villa towards the back
