It's taken a while to write this review, but even after 7 months, our stay at Santorini at Sunny Villas is still one of the most memorable highlights of our trip to Greece in July, 2007. Andreas was very helpful in pointing out restaurants, points of interest, and hooking us up with with a car rental. The cave room was amazing, with an unbeatable view of the Caldera. And the location in Imerovigli was perfect, we lost a few pounds walking back and forth from Fira, enjoying the view every time, but a cab into town is only a few euros. We'd go back there in a flash!

We booked this hotel after reading reviews on this site, and we were not disappointed. We went for a superior suite, which had two bathrooms, a bedroom and sitting room, and small kitchenette. The room looked exactly as it did on the candid traveller photos, and if anything the hotel's own photos don't do the place justice. The suites are little self-contained apartments, with a kitchenette and basic equipment, and have a balcony/veranda facing the Caldera. Everything was really clean and tidy, and the rooms are really cute. We had breakfast every day brought to us on our balcony, and all the staff speak good English (as does everyone on the island, pretty much).

Although this side of the island is more expensive, it's well worth it. The resorts on the other side could be anywhere, but the Caldera side of the island is really unique, and it's really what you're coming to Santorini for.

The village of Imerovigli is small with maybe six restaurants, but the main town of Fira is walkable in about 30 mins, but don't go mid-afternoon if you want to avoid the onslaught of the cruise ship tourists! They all seem to be gone by 5pm though.

The views are amazing from everywhere on the island, and I would definitely recommend getting a car for at least part of your stay.

Our family of 4 stayed here for a couple of nights while touring Santorini. We arrived after a hectic exit from the port/ferry and a harrowing taxi ride. We were shown to our room (suite with kitchenette, 2 sleeping areas, 2 bathrooms) without problem. The view from our balcony was absolutely stunning!! The hotel is situated (along with other small hotels) on tiers on the hills above the coast of Santorini. Therefore, everyone has a terrific view of the sea and the volcanic island in the water. Our room was comfortable and clean and a decent breakfast was brought to our room each morning. We wish it had been warm enough to swim because the pool looked nice We were able to walk around the area even at night due to walking paths that run along the coast. We loved Santorini and found it nicest after the hoards of cruise trippers get back on their boat!! The guy in the office recommended the nicest restaurant in Thira/Santorini. I can't recall the name but the view and the food was the best I've ever had. PERFECT!

My husband, 9 month daughter and I stayed at Sunny Villas for about 7 nights on our wedding and honeymoon. It was very enjoyable and memorable. I loved the way the hotel is set among other hotels and restaurants on the cliff, a bit of a tiki tour to get there with your bags but that is the charm. Andreas was as great as everyone has described. We had an unpleasant smell in our first room on our first night there (like sewage) and he was kind enough to let us change rooms the next day. In fact it wasn’t until we got home that we realised he had upgraded us, but did not charge us extra, which was very nice of him. Also, we managed to lose our room key and he was kind enough not to charge us a penalty for this. As for the first room, we think the smell must just have been a freak thing because my uncle ended up checking into the same room and didn’t notice any smell!

We had other family staying at the Villas and it was a perfect place to socialize on each others balconies, yet still maintain privacy. The views are spectacular and the village of Imerovigli very pleasant. I am glad we stayed there as opposed to Fira though with a baby, walking to Fira wasn’t an easy option. Our wedding was arranged by Heliotopos, who were just a hop skip & jump away so it was very handy being in such close proximity. We also stayed in Kamari and Oia but personally I found Imerovigli the perfect place in terms of being able to take in the beauty of the island without too much tourist distraction.
