“Nice hotel but let down by noise”

We stayed in the Marina Suites from 9th to 16th Feb. Overall our stay was fine but it was tainted by one main problem.....noise. We were given room 105. This room is on the first floor just across from the lifts entrance and the stairs down to reception. Therefore, in the morning we heard everybody - lots of kids - heading out to the poolside for breakfast (that's where it is served) and at night time we heard every conversation and all the music from the bar downstairs. There is no door on the large marble stairwell so the noise traveled up. The bedroom is facing out onto the open air corridor and has two large floor to ceiling windows which block no noise at all. As mentioned in other posts, the hotel is right beside a working boatyard. I found it hard to relax by the pool or in my room with the almost constant noise of machinery and engines. Also, on a couple of days the smell of solvents and paints from the boatyard was very noticable. The balcony for the room is level with the pool area (see photo), directly opposite the jacuzzi, and close to the childrens play area so there is noise all day almost right outside the window from kids running back and forth or from people in and out of the jacuzzi! If you get allocated this room or one adjacent (101 to 108) I would refuse it straight away. I have no doubt if I had been given a different room a few floors up, I wouldn't have experienced half that noise.
Overall the hotel is very nice, with a great location (as in you don't have to walk far or up any hills), and is very modern and clean. The pool is great, but I think they have far too many sunbeds laid out. At times there was no space to walk from one end of the pool area to the other.

“Don't get stuck with rooms 101 to 108”

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Marina Suites and whilst the brochure says sea, pool or marina view if you are allocated rooms 101 to 108 you will have a view or some palm trees and no more.
These rooms are on the same level as the pool and therefore have a terrace. Between the terrace and the pool sunbeds is a channel of water and then palm trees about 6 foot high.
At that is your view - at over £1000 with First Choice we were very dissapointed.
Other comments made about the fabulous pool, the clean and well equiped accommodation, the high quality of the food and very realistic ~ but if you want to be able to sit quietly on your balcony and read a book enjoying the sun make sure you don't get allocated rooms 101 to 108.

“Lovely view”

You cannot fault the cleanliness, the space, the view, the pool.
All of these things do not make an holiday.
I was really shocked at the poor quality of the breakfast cold plates cold food, the bacon was a very poor quality.
Lovely dining area beside the pool spoilt by kids playing ping pong so while you are tryng to eat you are moving your head around avoiding beiong hit by the ball.
I found first choice reps very friendly, more than what I can say for the staff I found them very rude and not in the least friendly.
Background music is needed to liven the place, and the bar in the evening could do with some entertainment.
I found this poor value for money and would not return,
I hope they take notice of this, as it has to be the best location in the area I would certainly not return.

Just returned from the Marina Suites a week ago. I am always very wary when going on a package holiday as many times I have turned up at accomodation which was deemed 'desirable' but which turned out to be more desperate than anything else. The Marina Suites thankfully was not a disappointment. I have fairly high standards and am not the easiest pleased but this aparthotel is off a high standard, is extremely clean and is situated away from the more tackier areas of the resort. It's location is very calm and tranquil, yet pretty close to the better restaurants in the area. Food is dreadful, we had lunch one day and breakfast another...very poor but then I feel the food in PR overall is nothing great. One place that did please my taste buds was Cafe del Mar on Amardores Beach...the very first restaurant you come across when walking to the beach from PR. Menu is excellent, meals presented are a bit over the top but if you look over this the taste is pretty good. Like most of the better restaurants they aren't that cheap (average 18 euro per main) but unfortunately that's what you have to pay for a decent meal. Very little Spanish influenence in the cooking overall in the resort which was extremely disappointing but c'est la vie. I would definately reccommend this accomodation to all groups of people.

Read mostly good but some bad reviews regarding this hotel prior to our visit which was jan 21st to jan 28th 2008.
First of all 'Lovely location no steps to climb as hotel is located on the flat outside the marina 500 yard to the first shops. cafes and beach boat trips etc.
Nice new modern very clean up to date hotel, we stayed on the third floor had great views from our room and balcony over looking the marina and port areas.
Nice big suite lounge area TV table chairs settee etc, kitchenette every thing you needed big bedroom very nice and clean, maids in every day to clean.
We had booked half board but this for us was a mistake there are plenty of places to eat out its cheap and more fun.
Of the few meals we did have at the hotel the food was ok to average but we found was always to cold for our tastes even the meat and sauce dishes and dare we say chips were always cold.! we told the waiter and he told the chef, things improved slightly the next day.
So its not 5 star but we paid £800 for the two of us including flights half board all in it was we think very good value.
