Over recent years we have booked our holidays independantely.
We booked this hoilday through Falcon Ireland as we could not book the hotel ourselves. I went with husband and two sons aged 17 and 14. We were charged as four adults in a one bedroomed apartement in the Marina Suites.
Having read other trip advisor views, in order not to end up with the dreaded rooms 101 to 108 I phoned a few days before our arrival date to ensure that we got a room on a high floor with a sea view. I also requested a room with internet access. The receptionist could not have been more helpful and noted my requests
When we arrived we were assigned room no 507 which had a sea view and a part pool view. It also had a view of the working boat yard. This was not a problem and it kept my husband entertained looking at all the activity when we were sitting on the balcony. We also had wired internet access for €15 for the week. ( provide your own laptop)
The bedroom was large with twin beds pushed together. The wardrobe in the bedroom was the only storage in the apartment for clothes. In my opinion the apartment was not suitable for 4 adults. It would have been perfect for 3 aduls or 2adults and 2 children.
The sitting room had a pull our sofa which doubled into a bed. Again the sitting room was large with a kitchen tucked away in what looked like a wardrobe.
The cooker had 2 rings which had a warning on it not to operate for more than 10 minutes. This was not an issue for us, as apart from breakfast we ate out.
The bathroom was a good size. The apartment was kept spotless by the cleaners who worked away like beavers all day.
We did not have any problem with the 8am call from the maids. I think it depended on the position of your room.
Breakfast was served at the pool area and if it is not included in your price it costs €8 pp. Lunch was also served here. It was very reasonably priced.
The pool is an infinity pool and it gives the impression that it goes on into the sea. As with a lot of other hotels the dawn brigade have all the best sunbeds and umbrellas kidnapped before the pool offically opens! We were there from 15th March for 7 nights and the hotel was completely full. Therefore the pool area was very busy. As already mentioned in other reviews we thought that there was very little room between beds, but here were other areas away from the pool which was not so crowded.
The staff were very professional and at all times friendly and helpful. The animation staff kept activities on going during the day if you wanted to partake
Puerto rico has plenty of restaurants. The ones we ate out in were Los Boleros by Mcdonalds. This was the only disappointing meal we got as the restaurant itself looks very impressive. The Red Rose Cafe at the Marina served very good solid food and even though it was not the most attractive place the quality was good. Just below that a restaurant called Los Calicos ( I think ) was very good. This needs to be booked in advance. Of course Oscars is excellent as usual. We ate there a few nights.
There are plenty of boat tours and watersports leaving from the pier at puerto rico. We took a trip to Mogan which has lovely little streets and bridges crossing over a stream. We also went parsailing. Not for the fainthearted!
Overall The Marina Suites is a lovely complex which is very well. run. This is reflected throughout the whole hotel.
This is our third time staying in Puerto Rico and our first time staying in The Marina Suites ( having stayed in the El Greco before). It definately wont be our last stay at the Marina Suites.
