“Great place to stay”

Marina Suites

Over recent years we have booked our holidays independantely.
We booked this hoilday through Falcon Ireland as we could not book the hotel ourselves. I went with husband and two sons aged 17 and 14. We were charged as four adults in a one bedroomed apartement in the Marina Suites.
Having read other trip advisor views, in order not to end up with the dreaded rooms 101 to 108 I phoned a few days before our arrival date to ensure that we got a room on a high floor with a sea view. I also requested a room with internet access. The receptionist could not have been more helpful and noted my requests
When we arrived we were assigned room no 507 which had a sea view and a part pool view. It also had a view of the working boat yard. This was not a problem and it kept my husband entertained looking at all the activity when we were sitting on the balcony. We also had wired internet access for €15 for the week. ( provide your own laptop)
The bedroom was large with twin beds pushed together. The wardrobe in the bedroom was the only storage in the apartment for clothes. In my opinion the apartment was not suitable for 4 adults. It would have been perfect for 3 aduls or 2adults and 2 children.
The sitting room had a pull our sofa which doubled into a bed. Again the sitting room was large with a kitchen tucked away in what looked like a wardrobe.
The cooker had 2 rings which had a warning on it not to operate for more than 10 minutes. This was not an issue for us, as apart from breakfast we ate out.
The bathroom was a good size. The apartment was kept spotless by the cleaners who worked away like beavers all day.
We did not have any problem with the 8am call from the maids. I think it depended on the position of your room.
Breakfast was served at the pool area and if it is not included in your price it costs €8 pp. Lunch was also served here. It was very reasonably priced.
The pool is an infinity pool and it gives the impression that it goes on into the sea. As with a lot of other hotels the dawn brigade have all the best sunbeds and umbrellas kidnapped before the pool offically opens! We were there from 15th March for 7 nights and the hotel was completely full. Therefore the pool area was very busy. As already mentioned in other reviews we thought that there was very little room between beds, but here were other areas away from the pool which was not so crowded.
The staff were very professional and at all times friendly and helpful. The animation staff kept activities on going during the day if you wanted to partake
Puerto rico has plenty of restaurants. The ones we ate out in were Los Boleros by Mcdonalds. This was the only disappointing meal we got as the restaurant itself looks very impressive. The Red Rose Cafe at the Marina served very good solid food and even though it was not the most attractive place the quality was good. Just below that a restaurant called Los Calicos ( I think ) was very good. This needs to be booked in advance. Of course Oscars is excellent as usual. We ate there a few nights.
There are plenty of boat tours and watersports leaving from the pier at puerto rico. We took a trip to Mogan which has lovely little streets and bridges crossing over a stream. We also went parsailing. Not for the fainthearted!
Overall The Marina Suites is a lovely complex which is very well. run. This is reflected throughout the whole hotel.
This is our third time staying in Puerto Rico and our first time staying in The Marina Suites ( having stayed in the El Greco before). It definately wont be our last stay at the Marina Suites.

Elaine from Maldon

March 17th - 24th March

Having read many mixed reviews about the Marina Suites, we went very open minded. The hotel was excellent & really can't understand what people had to complain about. We had a room on the 7th floor which overlooked the marina, the views were stunning. The room was very spacious & was cleaned every single day. All the staff were very friendly & helpful. We went half board & the breakfast & evening meal were very good. We did plenty of walking & the beach at Amadores is a must! There are shops around the marina but if you are prepared to walk that bit further you will find a large shopping complex with bars all along the top floor. This can be found by walking away from the beach between the spar & the public swimming pool, then under the underpass. We would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation to any of our friends & would definitely go back.

We went on a holiday to the Marina suites with two children a fourteen year old and a nineteen year old. We all enjoyed our stay and would defintly go back as soon as possible! The staff were so friendly and helpful, the cleaners were very good changed the beds and left clean towels everyday. The pool is so relaxing you could spend the whole week watching ships and boats go to Puerto Rico harbor.A life guard on duty all the time and at different times of the day little competitions would take place which children and adults could participate. The area around the accopation was lovely with no nice of traffic at night. There was lovely resteraunts and bars near by serving all types of food. This was propelly the nicest accopation we will ever stay in!!

“Nice hotel but let down by noise”

We stayed in the Marina Suites from 9th to 16th Feb. Overall our stay was fine but it was tainted by one main problem.....noise. We were given room 105. This room is on the first floor just across from the lifts entrance and the stairs down to reception. Therefore, in the morning we heard everybody - lots of kids - heading out to the poolside for breakfast (that's where it is served) and at night time we heard every conversation and all the music from the bar downstairs. There is no door on the large marble stairwell so the noise traveled up. The bedroom is facing out onto the open air corridor and has two large floor to ceiling windows which block no noise at all. As mentioned in other posts, the hotel is right beside a working boatyard. I found it hard to relax by the pool or in my room with the almost constant noise of machinery and engines. Also, on a couple of days the smell of solvents and paints from the boatyard was very noticable. The balcony for the room is level with the pool area (see photo), directly opposite the jacuzzi, and close to the childrens play area so there is noise all day almost right outside the window from kids running back and forth or from people in and out of the jacuzzi! If you get allocated this room or one adjacent (101 to 108) I would refuse it straight away. I have no doubt if I had been given a different room a few floors up, I wouldn't have experienced half that noise.
Overall the hotel is very nice, with a great location (as in you don't have to walk far or up any hills), and is very modern and clean. The pool is great, but I think they have far too many sunbeds laid out. At times there was no space to walk from one end of the pool area to the other.

“Don't get stuck with rooms 101 to 108”

Marina Suites

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Marina Suites and whilst the brochure says sea, pool or marina view if you are allocated rooms 101 to 108 you will have a view or some palm trees and no more.
These rooms are on the same level as the pool and therefore have a terrace. Between the terrace and the pool sunbeds is a channel of water and then palm trees about 6 foot high.
At that is your view - at over £1000 with First Choice we were very dissapointed.
Other comments made about the fabulous pool, the clean and well equiped accommodation, the high quality of the food and very realistic ~ but if you want to be able to sit quietly on your balcony and read a book enjoying the sun make sure you don't get allocated rooms 101 to 108.
