“Great Times...”

Terrazamar Suites

Myself, wife and our 3 yr old had a week in the suites in April, we booked last minute as our folks were heading out there for 2 weeks, and we get fed up seeing them come back all tanned and happy!! so we thought let's go and enjoy too..

Here's out take on it;

Hotel - fab, rooms very spacious, large balcony, although with a climbing 3 yr old lad the height on balcony handrail could have been higher.

Room was large, 2 large beds in back room, and large sofa bed for the little lad, TV for hire, i think €25 for week, but good selection on channels, ideal after day in pool or beach, most of the time our lad fell asleep watching and was crashed out for night then..

Air conditoning was available, we didn't hire as our room had the much talked about ceiling fans, we found even in hottest nights were good and very cooling.

Shower was poor, ran out of water after about 10 minutes, and took 20 to re-heat in small boiler type machine in bathroom, we only by chance found switch in cupboard to turn it on/off - or else it would have been a cold shower each night!

overall rooms were great, super view out acros the town, commercial centre and towards the sea.

Location - although set back a good bit for the beach, the real positive for us, was it was a flat walk from apartments to beach straight down a path, past commercial centre and out onto beach - no hills and no need for taxis, i have read other reports and reviews saying 20 minutes walk - perhaps... if on crutches!!

Beach - excelllent, plenty to do, great warm water, but does get deep quick so not ideal for little ones, we walked to the beach in Amadores, about 15 mins, this was much nicer, but packed.

Commercial Centre - ok, but is basically a concrete block packed with places to eat and drink, we found the folllowing the best, to eat- San Miguels, cheap, 3 courses for 3 of us, childs meal and a couple of beers around €40.00 - excellent value and meals spot on. Personally we prefer a beachfront centre, nice stroll and great views, we found Lanzarote better for this.

We found a small bar called Sun Spot on uppper level outside, very cheap, around 90 cent a pint, and good prices all round.

Also try M&Ms bar - again very good.

There is a great boat ride to Puerto Mogan on a Saturday, about €15 euro return on ferry, there is a market there, loads of stalls, great choice and a lot cheaper then the shops in Commercial centre, make sure you haggle though.. get a bargin.

Overall we had a great time, apartments and location was ideal for us, for coupes and those with young kids i would highly reccomend these apartments - defiinitely the best i seen in my time there.

And of course, the weather was great, up in the high 30's while we were there.

Enjoy... and give them a go.

My wife and I have just returned from a week with two friends at the Terrazamar Sun Suites. Overall the stay was very good, the apartment itself was spacious with a seperate small kitchen and decent sized bathroom. Outside the apartment we had a really good sized balcony which certainly was well placed to catch the sun...........so anybody wanting to get a quality tan would be really pleased!!! I'd say on the whole the apartments were certainly above standard from your typical Spanish resort accomodation. I'd advise anyone staying here to pay for air con especially during the peak seasons weather through July and August. Don't pay for the whole week..........pay 6 euros for one day and see whether you feel its worth it. You never know at the end of your stay they might forget to charge you!!!

On arrival the check-in was quick and efficient, the hotel staff from reception to cleaning staff were always smart, polite and courteous. The site has two bars...............ground floor reception small bar which is decent for a cheap beer before heading into town as happy hour from 7pm and the bigger bar on the 10th floor which seemed fairly lively on an evening, though we did mainly venture into the bars in town ourselves. The hotel pool on the 10th floor is pretty decent but often full of kids as you'd expect.....if you fancy a quite swim carry on up a couple of floors and cross the road where you'll find a nice relaxing pool with very few people. The only downside to this is that this pool doesnt have a bar.

We personally found that the Terrazamar was a really nice hotel and were impressed with the whole package..........it's worth going up to the pool bar for a typical English breakfast (Yumbo) but as my friend says don't get the Maxi burger!! Another plus is the on site supermarket from which you can get your basic needs............although there are plenty in town.

The resort itself is what I'd consider typically Spanish......no real change to mainland Spain with the bars or restaurents with plenty of both to go at!!! I'd advise anyone to go down to the harbour and take a trip across to Mogan which is really quaint and has a few more classy eateries and is a little more relaxed than Puerto Rico itself.

Overall if you are planning a trip to Puerto Rico seriously consider the Terrazamar as I think you will struggle to find a better place to stay.

Just back from terrazamar sunsuites after a two week stay. Best holiday ever. Eight adults and three children and no complaints. Entertainment team, Annie, Dale and Lois were so good all day long. Children loved them. Other guests were very friendly, lots of Irish and Scottish. Hotel staff very helpful in every way.
The apartments are at the top of the resort about 10 min walk to beach. 5 min walk to the shopping centre where everything happens. Taxi to beach would cost 3E. Set of steps down to shopping centre not a problem at all. You can use the lift to ground floor in terrazamar suites across the road from the sunsuites if you found walking difficult or had a buggy but the gate locks at 10:30 each night.
Bars, restaurants and night clubs were brill. We had children aged 12, 14, teenagher 16, 17 and 21 year old to adults and all had a great time.

On arriving at the Terrazamar Suites reception, we found we had been allocated a 9th floor apartment in the Terrazamar Sun Suites across the road instead. This was fine as it meant we had better views over Puerto Rico and the Sun Suite balconies are also more private with solid wall separators rather than just lattice panels. The apartment itself was neat and clean with blue and white being the colour scheme throughout. The bathroom had a big walk-in shower cubicle (no bath) and the separate kitchen contained a microwave oven, two-ring electric hob, electric kettle, toaster and coffee maker. Most impressive of all though was the huge open balcony which according to the info pack in the room, was 5 sq metres bigger than the apartment itself. While we were there our apartment was cleaned 5 days a week, Thursdays and Sundays being the only days it wasn't. Towels were changed regularly and linen was changed twice in the 12 days.

For sun-worshippers, the complex is located on the best side of the valley as the sun shone on our balcony and the pool area from 7.45am to about 6.30pm every day which was great. A welcome afternoon breeze most days also helped keep us and the apartment cooler in the high 20's celsius temperatures, though there is also a ceiling fan in the living area and an air-conditioning unit in the bedroom to help if necessary. We found that we didn't need the air-conditioning during our stay but it would have cost €36 a week or €60 for a fortnight if we had. The apartment also had a TV but the channel choice is very limited with just a couple of English speaking channels (Euronews and CNN news I think). You can pay €15 a week for some extra channels if you want to but we didn't bother.

The complex is over half a mile from the beach which could be a bit of a trek for families with small children but as we had hired a car for the whole holiday we were able to get around easily and visit all the local resorts and beaches. We also drove up into the mountains a couple of times and did the popular walk to the Roque Nublo monolith on GC's 2nd highest mountain. Some of the scenery around there is quite stunning, For parking, we used the car park on the top floor opposite the Sunsuite Royal apartments but there is also an underground car park at the Sunsuites for use by guests as well. Each complex (Terrazamar Suites, SunSuites and SunSuites Royal) has it's own swimming pool and there were always lots of spare loungers at all three of them while we were there though the Sunsuites pool area was the busiest as it's the largest of the 3 complexes.

My one quibble would be the thinness of the apartment walls which meant neighbours voices and night-time snoring from the apartment next door could be clearly heard. However, on the plus side the apartments are built in tiers so that each apartment is actually under the balcony of the apartment above them which helps reduce the noise of footsteps and scraping of furniture from the apartment above at night.

Anyone booking the Terrazamar Sunsuites can relax in the knowledge that they will almost certainly like the complex and that it easily lives up to it's official 3 stars grading. It helped make our holiday a really good one and we are already planning to return at the same time next year because we liked them and Gran Canaria so much. Easily recommended.

We stayed here at the end of April 2007 for a 5 night break. I wasn't expecting it to be as lovely as it was. The balcony was excellent, rooms excellent, in fact the whole stay was excellent!

Could not fault Terrazamar at all. It was spotlessly clean, staff were friendly and was great value for money. The kitchen was an added bonus and had everything we needed.

Would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone!
