Me and 3 other friends went to tenerife for a week to celebrate a birthday and can honestly say we had a lovely stay even though we were 4 18/19 year olds and I will admit we were by far the younegst there.

The apartment was spacious enough for all 4 of us (2 sleeping in the bedroom the other two on the sofa bed) and had all the cooking facilities and utensils needed for cooking absolutly everything!! although i do have to mention that there is a wonderful resturant right outside the apartments if you go out the back entrance not by reception, its called Bistro 27 and its got blue and white striped canapy... the food is lovely and its very affordable.

The weather was hit and miss as when it was hot it was very very hot but that only lasted maybe 2/3 days before it was just cloud all the time which is a bit of a downer as there is not reallly anything to do around here unles you get a 20 euro cab into las americas which obviously is not sensible to do every single day so we would go the the wild goose pub which is an irish pub just past Bristo 27.

I have only one complaint and that is the maids. two of us came back to our room to find our door WIDE open for all the world to see. This is find completly unacceptable as we had everything in there and the maids had come in an not shut the door. Having had a heart attack thinking we had been burgled we informed reception that we no longer wanted any staff or maintainence to enter our room at all unless we requested. This went ignored as we came back one afternoon to a member of staff "cleaning". By this i mean she was wiping down the table tops and instead of moving things out the way she simply just swiped them off the table and launched them through the air... this was after shouting at us in Spanish about the amount of clothes on the floor! If they have the audacity to throw our personal belongings in front of us while we are standing there watching them, god knows what they would do should we not be watching.

As this place is fairly isolated, this is the perfect place to stay when you feel no need to travel around the island.
Do not be fooled by the scale of the map, with a buzzing 30 C any distance is too large for a walk. Unless you're on the golf course. Golf del Sur is a fine place for a game or practice. Make sure to carry at least 1 liter of water for every 9 holes.
Taxis are fairly priced, we used them to go shopping at Mercadona (since the small shops nearby charge almost double).
Feel like having a great lunch? Make sure to go and visit the Danish pastry shop, only 5 min. walk.

As for Albatros, this place equals service. We have rarely met staff so kind. The only disadvantage we could find are the stairs; although all floors are interconnected via elevators you'll need a map should you want to use the elevaters only. Although ramps are being placed (in progress) I would not recommend this place yet for the elderly or travellers with small children using strollers.
Food is excellent and so is hygiene.
All in all, a perfect spot for a quiet holiday.

We came to this hotel as Infiniti club members, as we have timeshare ownership through them, so knew pretty much what to expect. Mind you, we last stayed in this resort 8 years ago and had some very mixed experiences at that time, so were keen to see what improvements had been made.

We were lucky, as the Infiniti apartments are definitely the best available, and 5-star compared with what may be lower standards in non-Infiniti apartments....lovely fitted kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, quality cooker and big fridge/freezer. Big lounge & balcony overlooking the pool, with wall-mounted TV, DVD/CD players; superb bathroom with amazing shower firing jets at you from all directions! And a nice large double-bedded bedroom with another TV. Quality stuff.

The grounds and pool are well maintained, although we thought too many sunbeds squeezed into the pool area, so you were cheek by jowl with others - especially annoying if you are a non-smoker!

The restaurant has been upgraded since we were last there and offers a really good range of very reasonably-priced food, nicely cooked. Service sometimes a bit slow, though. They have entertainment 4 nights a week, which is usually good quality.

Special mention should be made of young Billy, the entertainments manager, who puts on quizzes, does aerobics and looks after children: a really nice guy!

Lots of other restaurants and bars close by, so you are spoilt for choice. The San Blas centre is within walking distance, with lots of bars and places to eat, and there are several good restaurants at the rear of the hotel, plus an Irish bar for those missing English beer!

A nice place to just relax for a week, though maybe a little quiet for the younger generation!

Overall I loved this complex... it had everything you could want really (apart from maybe air conditioning, which I would have liked)...clean rooms, restaurant/bar, nice pool area, plenty of sun loungers, plenty of local eating/drinking options, little supermarket. Our room was 1-bedroom, with additional sofa-bed in a separate lounge.. but there were only two of us so it felt very spacious. View was to the back of the hotel, over scrub land, but you could see the sea just about, and it was quieter than a room with a pool view.

On the subject of noise, you did get some low flying airplanes, but it wasn't that intrusive... the hotel is definitely not 300m from airport perimeter as previously stated... it took us about half an hour to walk to Los Abrigos, the local fishing village, which is still to the south west of the airport. And proximity to airport did have its advantages for transfers (we paid 15 Euros by taxi, each way). I can recommend El Mirador restaurant in Los Abigos, but there were lots of other options there.

We did manage to walk further along the coast to El Medano (the other side of the airport), where the nearest "sandy" beach is, but it was about 6km, and you needed decent shoes at some points. Caught bus back to Golf Del Sur for less than 2 Euros.

On another day I caught a bus to Playa de Las Americas, for 1.80 Euros there and 2.20 Euros back from Los Christianos (which is closer, but bus went to various villages en route). Hotel reception hands out photocopies of the relevent bus time tables, and the hotel sits between two nearby bus stops.

We didn't get to play golf in the resort, but had a quick game of "Crazy Golf", found at North of resort for 6 Euros which was fun.

At the east side of the resort was San Blas Commercial Centre, where we found a decent traditional Sunday Roast Dinner, which made us feel at home, but we didn't bother walking there in the evenings as there were closer options for food and drinking.

My favourite eating place was Dabda Wine Bar, on the road towards San Blas, which had the coolest decor, good wine, and lovely snacks/tapas (not a la carte menu though, if you're hungry)... unfortunately their view is currently spoilt by building work.. but still worth a visit.

Only people I would not recommend this hotel to are people who have trouble with steps, although there were lifts in our block, the gardens had quite a few steps up and down all over the place. Maybe there are rooms which are more accessible than others if you ask in advance. Also "full-on" party people are probably best sticking to hotels in Playa de Las Americas, as Golf del Sur is much more laid-back and quieter.

  • Liked — Local facilities OK for weeks holiday. Hotel gardens well kept with tropical feel...
  • Disliked — No air conditioning

We arrivied into Golf Del Sur, at 12 o clock, on the 9th March 2007 - we then got a "Taxi" to the airport, that charged 50 euros, But nevermind that, we got to the Hotel tried to check in, and they said Sorry you can't check in until 4 PM, so we had to sit it out for this time, While we were waiting loads more couples were aple to check in, But we were not, so Then i went and got a Drink from the bar, that are quite cheap - 80c for a Coke?

We finally got checked in, and it was lovely - The apartments was nice and confy, The only bad point bout the hotel is the amount of stairs, if your not good with stairs dont bother, Their is loads nd no lifts.
