We stayed 3 nights and found the hotel formal and starchy. We paid a supplement for a better 2nd floor room however the room was not large, furnished in an outdated and exaggerated Laura Ashley style. The giant bed was acceptable only. Electric window shutters were an excellent touch.
The view from the rooms is very good looking out across the estuary and harbour. Audierne is a working fishing port and the boats return in the early morning just outside the hotel which adds interest.
We ate twice in the restaurant where the food was very good including the lobster which our friends ate twice. The menu is not extensive. We speak quite reasonable French but the evening of our arrival, tired from travelling, we had to suffer an insolent young French waiter which truely spoilt our evening. If I'd felt fresher I would have demanded the managers attention however we never saw the offender again.
If you want fun this is not the place to stay.
