location was terrible nothing at all no shops no taxis we came off at a station called burkstine we asked the station master if we could have a taxi there was no taxi or buses he said we had to walk so that what we did we walked along the motorway with our suitcases for about 45 min till we finally found the hotel in the middle of the wilds we had to catch the bus every morning and then hop on the train the journey was about an hour every morning and night the buses did not run very often which made it ten times worse so we spent a £100 pounds just to travel to berlin every day< the hotel was clean and clean towels everyday i would not wish any of my friends or family to stay in this hotel

I asked for a non-smoking room, they were fully booked and put me in a smoking room, without telling me. I woke up one morning to that oh-so-gracious smell and went to the reception, which *then* told me that and found me a non-smoking room.

I switched rooms and got down again to complain, for the lack of respect. After telling the recepcionist I thought that was a lack of respect, because they should've 1) told me what they were doing, 2) switched me asap without me asking for it. He disagreed (he didn't take my point, kept repeating "but it's ok now, right?") and when I said I still wanted to talk to the manager, he said "you just did", which I found odd, since he didn't reply when I asked him "are you the manager?".

In short, the hotel is confortable, but has no respect for guests, specially if you are "ein ausländer". Also, don't be fooled, the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, 20 minutes on a brisk pace to the next tram station.

There is nothing worng with this hotel - it has a small amount of wear and tear but I note they are redecorating it presently. It is certainly good value for your money and the food is decent.

The problem is, that without a car and with the expectation of visiting Berlin, you are wasting your time staying here. The nearest station is 3 km from the hotel and takes about 30 minutes to walk to or you can take a taxi for Euro 5. The train into town takes about 30 minutes.

Near the hotel there is virtually nothing within walking distance as the hotel is in a wood. In other words you are in a wood in a distant suburb to Berlin. Fine to stay in if you have a car but not otherwise

If you are expecting a 4 star hotel in Berlin you will be disappointed! Firstly the hotel is not in Berlin but way out on the outskirts to the East. To get into town is not a mammoth task but you have to take a taxi (bit too far to walk) to the station and then a train into town. Transport is efficient & cheap though. Secondly the hotel itself is a little tatty. nothing that new carpets throughout (especially in the corridors) wouldn't make much better. Food good and plentiful. Cosy downstairs bar/pool table. It's a functional hotel - ok if you are like us and just use it to sleep & for breakfast & the occasional dinner spending the rest of the day out and about because there is NOTHING out there to do (except walk & bike). Would I stay there again? As a hotel maybe yes but to visit Berlin - no. I would pay a bit more and stay at Alexanderplatz or Friedrichplatz which are much handier for everything going on in town.
