After the rather dodgy reveiws it was a little nerve wracking bring my whole family to this hotel.
I e-mailed the hotel direct to see if the four parties could have rooms together, i got a responce within a day, two parties booked sea veiw rooms and two pool veiws, when we arrived we all had adjoining rooms on the fith floor all with sea views.
The staff are very friendly, the rooms were kept clean and all the public areas were spotless.
The only bad point were the paper thin bedroom walls but thats just nit picking, for a Spanish 4 star hotel it was ok.
The food was quite good but if you want a tip go bed and breakfast and eat out, i found a paticular good restaurant called the gallery ,it was in restaurant street ,food was very good mussels to die for,sea bream superb and very well priced, eight starters six bottles of wine eight mains, six sweets four coffee's,300 euros including the tip, service first class.
Try not to eat lunch in peir one the food is not that good and overpriced walk a little further just before you get to were the stalls are there is a good place for lunch it's a cream building looking out to the sea with steps up to lots of outside tables under cream awanings, i had lunch twice in it ,it was very good.
Would recommend the Sol Ibiza to my friends its not like the four star im used to but it was clean and very friendly staff

“Mixed Blessings at the Sol”

This is meant to be a constructive review and I hope is judged as such. I will itemise sections for clarity.

Public Areas. These are all spacious and comfortably furnished. The lobby, the two bars and the terraces are all a pleasure to sit in, either for relaxation, a quiet drink with friends or to listen to, and watch, the musical entertainment.

The Pool area is equipped with sufficient sunbeds, at least that was my experience in September, but you will need to take your own beach towels if you do not wish to pay the hire charge for the use of the Hotels's towels. I would have expected free towels to be issued at the poolside in a four star hotel, but that is a personal fad. The poolside restaurant is adequedate for lunchtime snacks and drinks.

The Bedrooms and bathrooms are well equipped, of a reasonable size with comfortable beds and are immaculately clean, which is a must for any accommodation in a hot climate. Some balconies are smaller than others depending upon your location in the hotel. Our room was on the sixth floor overlooking the Marina and Harbour which was a picturesque view both day and night.

The Restaurant is pleasant to eat in with good furnishings. The food is a mixed blessing in that it is plentiful with a wide choice but the presentation of the hot food is sometimes offputting by being piled up in large quantities on serving platters. having said this, the meat, fish and vegetables are all well cooked but leading more toward the continental style rather than our familiar bland boiling methods. The salad bar is a delight with tuna, prawns and other seafood accompaniments which are a good alternative to a hot dinner. The desserts are exceptionally good and varied, with an unexpected array of good cheeses and buscuits, which will complement your Spanish wine, this being all that is on the wine list. Breakfast caters for all tastes and requirements, but the heat of the cooked breakfast is not always as it should be, but this can be rectified by the subtle use of the microwave oven supplied. The bacon and sausages could be better cooked. It's really a question of being in at the right time.

The Location has been the subject of mixed reviews, but we found it to be a five minute comfortable stroll to the Marina and not more than ten minutes to the town centre, and we are senior citizens.

The staff are, without exception, friendly and helpful, even at the end of the season when they must be wishing that it was all over for another year.

In General it was a good holiday. Santa Eulalia is very scenic, the amenities are good, the Rambla Restaurant is the best kept secret in Ibiza and is a must for their set lunch. The hotel is, hopefully, as I have desribed it and is as you see it in the brochures. There should be no surprises and, lets face it, the price is right.

“a good time in a good hotel”

My wife, I + a friend returned from 8 days at the Sol Ibiza 6-15 Sept.
We booked a Thomson Fly flight, and accommodation direct with Sol Melia hotel group. This saved us around £200 from the package price.
We had read on this site problems with noisy rooms, also no sun beds available because of towels being left on them.
I e-mailed the hotel before booking and was assured that these problems had been rectified.
The hotel was fully booked when we arrived but were given our rooms on the 4th floor which had good sea views also well furnished and quiet.
The problems with towels on beds were none existent. With plenty of room to move beds around.
The food for breakfast and dinner was very good a vast choice of food most being cooked as requested.
The pool area was well kept, this is a big hotel and a Queue did form at 7-30 for the start of dinner but this was just due to the volume of people trying to get a seat at that time.
The hotel is next to the Thomson Gold hotel but having seen both I’m glad I picked the Sol Ibiza
About 15 mins walk into the town, we will return again

“Extremely bad sound proofing between rooms”

Sol Ibiza

29 Sep 2007

My wife and i have just returned from a two week stay at the Sol ibiza hotel, and whilst the hotel is beautiful and decorated to a very high standard, there were a few things that dissapointed us.
The main issue was how extremely inefficient the sound proofing
was between each room, you could hear absoloutely everything, such as people snoring, talking, drawers closing, it was as if the people next door were in the same room as you! As a seasoned traveller, this is by far the worst i have ever experienced in any hotel. We had problems with the bathroom, we had water coming through the ceiling from upstairs, when they were having a shower. One morning when we returned from breakfast, our room has been flooded, This was because it had been raining for about 10 minutes, and we were in room 514 which was next to the fire exit, so the water had come in from here. Luckily there was no damage to our belongings, but we did not even receive an apology from the management. The food was very good and varied, although it did get repetitive, and the dining room staff were very nice. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the Marina, and when you leave the promenade, the road leading to the hotel is quite dark , you have to walk through some woods or a residential area next to a building site ( not great). Overall, i would not rate this hotel as a 4 star, mailnly due to the sound proofing, as you go on holiday to relax and unwind and to do this you need a good nights sleep, and unfortunately you do not get this at the Soli ibiza hotel. I should add that most of the other guests had the same problem. I would recommend hiring a car in Ibiza,as a new motorway has been built and it is easy to drive around the island.

When we booked the hotel we were aware of some of the trip advisors comments, which were mixed, but we felt with a shortage of quality hotels in Ibiza this sounded ok for a weeks break how wrong we were.
Let me start with the good things...... Hotel rooms and public areas were very clean, food was acceptable and the bar staff in the main were friendly.
Now the bad things.... upon arrival greeted by very unfriendly staff ,we had booked a sea view room and by paying for a premier holiday with a well known travel agent we were allocated a ground floor non sea view room. It took a lot of time and complaining to be in a room we had originally booked by reception staff I cannot stress how unhelpful they were. The walls are paper thin, and hearing your neighbours every move is not relaxing. The grounds of the hotel are unkempt and scruffy as is the whole surroundings of the hotel.
The evening entertainment was of poor standard and I would strongly suggest that you venture out in the evenings as the resort is lovely, upon leaving which couldn't come too soon, as in the week we had requested to use the courtsey room for a shower as we had a late flight, this at the time was no problem until the time had arrived when the rude and unhelpful reception staff said that the hotel was full and we could no spare a room for another couple of hours, again after complaining a room was made available.
In conclusion this hotel may of been a 4 star many years ago but certainly is not value for money .
