We have been going to this Hotel since 1995.We went last year and it was horrendous to say the least, but we thought we would try it again as the place holds so many fantastic holiday memories for us and for our family. Although the children have now grown up and don't accompany us now we still felt we should go back as we believed the nightmare of last year had to be a one off.
We met our very dear friends from Aldershot who we had met a this Hotel in 2002, and thank goodness they were there as the Hotel was really quiet due to them closing on Monday 14th October for the season ,and there were no day time activities whatsoever. The evening entertainment was the same as last year even to the same act being on on the same weeknight as they were last year, all were old hat and dreadful as well! Bingo at the speed of light in 4 different languages! If nothing else it gave comedy value!
Thank God for the one constant that was welcome, the same staff on the bars and on Reception as in previous years, who never forget us and how could we ever forget them? Antonio, Xavis, Jenny,Kerry,The cook with the incredible shrinking hair!!, and Emillio.
Now , lets get onto the food!! Oh my God. You could really tell it was the end of the season and they were clearing out the freezers! It was absolutely attrocious to the point where we ate out most nights even though we were all inclusive.
We had prawn crackers everynight but nothing else remotely Chinese! We had to guess wether the golden hoops in the tray were onion rings or squid. I think the labels had fallen off the bags in the freezer so it was a suprise to the chefs as well when it was cooked! The food you could guess at was always cold. If anyone form the Hotel is reading this please could you remember that all Brits do not like to live on Chips alone. The lunchtime menu was quite good but chips again! jacket spuds or pata would be lovely.
The rooms as ever were lovely and clean. No complaints there.Even the maids were the same as in previous years.
We have found out this week that the Hotel and it's sister Hotel the Atlantic has been sold to the same company that has the Paraiso Beach Hotel ( The pink one up the Hippy Market). So we might give it a go just to see if there is any improvement although no-one in the Hotel was able to tell me which tour operator I would need to use.
If you go out to eat we recoment the Bulls Head and visit Chris and Bev in Moe's bar accross the road for a pint. The lunchtime snacks in there are great as well. Real English Bread!
