My time at Villa Manos was absolutely wonderful -- I enjoyed it so much that I had to stay longer than I had planned. It is a small family-owned hotel that is very comfortable. Poppy and her family are very welcoming and hospitable to everyone. As she grew up on the island, Poppy is very knowlegeable about the area and has connections with many of the locals and will help travelers get good deals on everything around the island.

The hotel itself is conveniently located in Karterados, just south of Fira, which the main town on Santorini. The rooms are large and clean, each with a bathroom, balcony (or patio area) and small kitchenette. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is available for 5 euro and is delicious. The hotel is great for all types of travelers. I visited with a friend as we were traveling through greece, however there were families, newlyweds, and older couples as well. The atmosphere is comfortable for all ages and types of travelers.

Santorini is a wonderful island and staying at Villa Manos made my stay even better as it is is an affordable way to enjoy the island and Greek hospitality. I plan to go back to Villa Manos on my next trip to Greece and also to recommend the hotel to everyone who is even thinking of visiting Greece!!

We've stayed at many hotels and Poppy and her family had by far the best service. Always ready to help and even offering cake straight out of her oven! Breakfast is made to order which is much nicer than any buffet breakfast I've had. Also, you can rent a car for 20euros a day and they'll drop it off and pick it up from the hotel for you which saves a lot of time and efort.Plus the pool and pool area were large and very nice. We would recommend seeing the red beach on your visit. It was spectacular!

This is a difficult review to write, because you get exactly what you pay for.

First I am going to list my dislikes but there are many good ones about Villa Manos so please read on.

There were a few things about Villa Manos that I didnt like, holes in the blankets on the bed, uncomfortable mattress and terrible pillows (very old and bumpy), I dont believe our bed sheets were changed in our 5 night stay, very basic rooms. But you pay between £30 and £40 a night for two people including breakfast and transfers which is amazing value.

Although the start of my review doesnt sound great, I have to compliment Poppy and her family, because the atmosphere is great, they are so so friendly, hospitable and will do anything for you, the pool is lovely and so quiet, at times you think you may be the only ones there. Breakfast is good, tea orange juice, toast, fried egg and piece of cheese.
Location is good, although you do need transport of some kind, it is about a 10 minute walk to the centre of Karterderos which at night is scary as there are no lights or pavements.

We had a quad bike for 3 of our 5 days, its a must and so easy, dont be scared about doing it, there are 100's around on the road and it is very safe.

Poppy recommended Scaramangas, its a definite must it was really really nice, tasty and good value. There is also a place called Tabasco and a Lounge Bar either side of the Supermarket they are both great, the lounge bar does an excellent hot chocolate at the end of the night (yum yum).

From Villa Manos we moved onto Oia and stayed at a hotel which cost us over a £100 a night, it had the beautiful view of the sunset from our veranda but I have to say there was no customer service at all.

If you want a luxurious plush room then Villa Manos is not for you, but if you want atmosphere, friendly staff, helpful staff then this is the place.

If I went to Santorini again I would choose to stay at Villa Manos nowhere else.

Poppy made us some great cake, aagh we miss her already she is lovely, and boy is she in charge....

I am a female student, and Villa Manos was a warm and welcoming environment to me. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, student or not. Poppy runs an excellent hotel and will ensure your stay is everything you want it to be.
