This hotel was better than we thought it would be. The biggest problem we encountered was mosquitos and everyone one had bites all over them. The staff at the hotel reception and bar were very good to us. They even told us to come again to Almeria! Food was more geered towards adults. The resort itself is the quietest we have ever been to in Spain. There were days when you could have had the beach to yourself. The bars and restaurants were virtually always empty. We found it difficult seeing anybody walking around in the evenings. Some of the hotels even seemed to have shut down. The Oasys theme park is well worth a visit (previously known as Mini Hollywood). We also visited the Gran Plaza shopping centre. The pool at the hotel is extremely cold luckily the heated indoor pool was open so my kids used that apart from that we were impressed by this hotel, it was probably one of the busiest we came across. We personally would not visit Almeria again as it was too quiet for us but not a bad break all in all.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the playaluna hotel in roquetas de mar. We booked self catering as we have a 5 month old baby. The location of the hotel was great but that was about it. The accommodation was poor not at all 4 star. There was no air conditioning as the hotel refused to switch it on despite tempratures soaring in the late 20's and the room feeling like a sauna which is not ideal when you have a young baby. When I complained to the girl on reception she was very rude and unhelpful telling me it was tough as it was not working in the hotel. The bed we slept in was full of bed bugs, after the third night we could no longer sleep in it as we were constantly itching and scratching. Several items were missing fro the room and we had tokeep requesting them ie Kettle, bottle opener, cot for baby. I will never go back to Almeria in Spain as the standard of accommodation and rudeness from majority of spanish people put me off holidaying here ever again.

Fantastic location on the beach, very clean and spacious rooms (superior room not sure about normal rooms though).
I've stayed in many 4 star hotels and also 3 star plus's and I would personaly suggest this is more of a 3 star plus.

Had a couple of issues with the staff though, the cleaners made a habit of moving furniture around the rooms above us and at the side of us as early as 6:00 am waking us up every morning in doing so. This went on for about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. I did mention this to the cleaners on a couple of occasions however it continued every morning for the week we were there.

Second issue was the attitude some of the staff in the reception and bar area.....lets just say they were unhelpful and unfriendly and never smiled. They came across as though everthing was too much trouble for them, even down to ordering drinks at the bar.

Shame about the staff really as the hotel itself is in a brilliant location and is clean. Even though we had issues as stated above, we would stay here again.

My wife, 3 year old boy & I stayed in Playaluna for two weeks during the summer. This was our 1st visit to Playaluna and 2nd visit to the resort in 4 months and we were so excited about coming back. We had one of their self contained apartments and we were very happy with everything. The hotel is located right on the beach with some great bars & restaurants very close by. If you are looking for an excellent location, good clean accomodation then this is the place for you. I would recommend this place for couples or families and indeed they seemed to cater very well for young children. We never eat there so can't give any feedback on that end.
The resort itself is very clean, free of lager louts and nice and peaceful. At times you have the beach nearly to yourself which is very hard to find in peak times in Spain. If you're looking for lots of action, busy nightlife, throngs of people then this is not the resort for you. Otherwise you should really enjoy it.
