We decided to stay at this hotel to relax for a little while after travelling by train through Europe for a full month and we absolutely loved this hotel!
Rooms - Little warning! We had a wonderful modern room, but if you want one as well you need to watch out which one you book. The hotel consists of two parts: one is traditional (read "old") and the other is called "emotion" (read "new"). We were able to book an emotion room quite cheaply last minute on the hotel's website, so you might want to check that out before going to any other site. All the negative comments we have read about the rooms were about the rooms located in the traditional part. Our room was big, modern and beautifully lighted. We had free wireless internet, air-conditioning (though it sometimes still felt a tad hot), a large television with SKY tv (although in Italy you can't find many English television channels, unless you like to watch the news whole day), a wonderful walk-in rain shower and a free mini-bar!
Food - The breakfast was very good, it even had an organic section! Their buffet had everything you well ever see at any other hotel in Italy: from cereal to cake, from all sorts of juices to freshly made coffee, from buns to croissants and also bread and toast, from vegetables to eggs, and so on. Every evening from 6pm to 8pm the hotel also offers free wine/juice and some hot and cold snacks in the lobby which, surprisingly, no one ever seemed to know about. After these snacks we actually decided not to have dinner anymore as we were already quite full. The last evening we sort of felt guilty for eating so much snacks the two nights previously, so we decided to eat at the hotel's restaurant, which is the only thing we do not recommend at all about this hotel. We were the only people there, decided to use the buffet (where you can either pay for a big plate or a medium plate), but all of the food seemed to come straight out of the refrigerator. In fact, they even have a microwave next to the buffet in case you wanted to (re)heat your lasagne or sausage. You absolutely feel like a fool while standing and waiting there, especially when you think of the €2/person service charge you will need to pay at the end this meal.
Pool & gym - The hotel offers a simple but nice pool which is large enough for swimming, surrounded by comfortable sunning chairs and some sofas in the shade at the pool's top end. It was never very busy, so you could easily relax and jump in the pool for a swim. The gym was large with more than 20 sorts of equipment to chose from, which, again, no one ever seemed to use.
Location - You could actually see the hotel from the train station, so walking over there is absolutely no problem at all. You just take the tunnel under the train tracks and you're there within 5 minutes. People who complain about the location of the hotel should have done a little search on Google about San Bonifacio before staying here and they would have found out that, indeed, there's absolutely nothing to do in the near vicinity. We wouldn't know cause we enjoyed the hotel so much we did not even go out. This hotel is most probably mainly for people passing through, searching to relax a couple of nights or business travellers.
