“The Rudest girl ever.....”

Hotel Club San Remo

23 Jul 2008

Haha, after reading the last 2 reviews i had to say something as well about "that girl" the one with the long curly dark hair. she was the most ignorant person i have ever met, so so rude. she was a pretty girl but went around with such a moany face.

we were booked into the sol post but the night before we left from dublin we got a call to say we were double booked so we had to stay in the san remo, i was not happy at all cause it was out honeymoon and my parents were following us out 4 days later with our 2 kids.
anyway we had the 4 days in the san remo with moany face and it was okay we just used the room as a base, spent all day on the beach and ate out and then i managed to get us back down to the sol post to be with our kids and my parents so it worked out fine.
but anyone else heading to san remo just beware of moany face!!!

I can only echo the comments of the last review.

We stayed in the hotel at around the same time and experienced similar problems.

The reception staff were quite rude, particularly the girl with the dark curly barnet who bore more than a passing resemblance to Ronaldo with long hair (she may have been in contract dispute and wanting to move to a rival hotel at the time?!)

The food was pretty terrible, the same stuff was presented over and over again some of it recycled and it wasn't nice. Moreover, on the day of my return to the UK, I was extremely ill - this lasted several days and was later diagnosed by a doctor as salmonella which could have only been acquired at the hotel. They had a guy floating around the restaurant who looked like Captain Pugwash who made a general nuisance of himself - he probably didn't help himself on the first day when he thought we were German!

The all inclusive drinks was also poor - small cups and no proper fruit juice. We had strong suspicions that the bottled water was in fact tap water (with the bottles being refilled). They closed the bar on our last day possibly as a result of some rowdy behaviour from a group of northern lads on a stag party so we had to walk a distance to the other hotel to get our drinks which was quite inconvenient in the searing heat.

All in all pretty disappointing.

“The longer we were there, the less we liked it”

Hotel Club San Remo

21 Jul 2008

My partner and I stayed at the San Remo on a last minute get away last week, arriving the 13th of July and leaving the 21st.

I've stayed in Ibiza before in Figueretas and that hotel was pretty awful, so I was pleasantly surprised at this hotel as on first impressions, it was quite nice for the money.

We checked in okay and was put in a room facing the noisy bar opposite the road, but when we asked reception for a sea view the next day, they gladly moved us to a room with a view at no extra cost.

This room was opposite the lifts on the 4th floor, so we excpeted it might be noisy - and it was to a degree. But the walls and doors are all sound proofed so it wasn't that bad. Our room had obviously been used for a good old punching match though as there was a hole in the toilet door, the toilet door lock had been recently replaced and the 'plasma TV' was missing and replaced with a CRT one.

The air con was useless - might as well not have had it and I agree with the other guests who say that their rooms were dirty all week. They didn't change the sheets all week and only gave us new towels when we asked - even though the towels were filthy and clearly needed changing.

So that's the rooms. We never book All Inclusive as we know from experience that you get bored of the food - so don't complain if you get sick of the same cooking all week. But we did go B&B and I only ate the food on 3 out of the 7 days as it was so bad. Cured meats anyone? I felt sorry for people on All Inclusive as they trudged back and forth from the bar with their tiny plastic cups - very tight on the measures I thought. The coffee was also fowl to the point that we went to the cafe over the road and got our daily espresso shot from there.

The girl with the curly hair behind reception - she doesn't speak much English at all so most of the time she's struggling to understand - I can see how she'd get rude if people are shouting in Northern accents at her. She was nice to us and so were the other reception staff.

Now on to the facilities - if you can call them that. We went up to use the Gym in the sister complex but that was a massive disappointment. All of the equipment, except for the heavy weights were broken and just lying in bits all over the floor. Again, this area was filthy too and looked well below par.

The swimming pool is small and the sun loungers are all full by 10am. So you have to use the beach which is an okay size and quite clean (when the guests pick up their rubbish that is). If you are all inclusive you get the sun loungers and umbrellas for free. If you're not, then you'll have to fork out 4 euros a day each for both of these. That's 12 euros a day for a couple - which is outrageous!

The other guests are either groups of young English girls and boys getting drunk and rowdy. Or worse, adults who should know a lot better. The area surrounding the town is full of Happy Hour drinking holes which can only be described as meat markets to be avoided.

We half enjoyed our stay here, as it was a better hotel than the last one we stayed at in Ibiza, but there's a lot better out there for the same money. It seems the quality of hotels in Ibiza are either very very pricey and worth the money, or half way between and you get what you pay for.

If you are in your late twenties, have taste and think that Reebok Classics are only worn by chavs, then I urge you to stay somewhere else other than the San Remo in San Antonio. Try Ibiza Town or Figueretas instead. The locals don't even think of San Antonio as part of the Island, it's more like Blackpool on a Saturday night with drunken louts in football shirts all over the place. They spoiled our holiday more than the hotel.

“I BEG YOU DONT STAY HERE”

Hotel Club San Remo

15 Jul 2008

I had been to this site just after booking a two week all inclusive stay at the San Remo I saw lots of people saying how terrible this place was but a few (who must have been written by the hotel staff) said it was good. I thought oh well it cant be that bad lets try and make the most of it. I spoke too soon, we arrived very early Sunday morning to meet a nice guy who checked us in and off we went to our room, it was clean (no sea view) but had all we needed. (you will find from time to time no towels and even though your bed is made every day you'll be lucky to get clean sheets and the floor swept) in the morning we went down to breakfast and saw what could only be described as warm over cooked eggs, some spam disguised as bacon that wasn't cooked and bread for toasting that felt and tasted a little stale.. i hoped things would improve at lunch... Nop i was wrong, its school dinners and bad school dinners at that. Dinner by the way was no better! we eat out after the first week as we both could not take it anymore. we stopped eating lunch or breakfast, there are plenty of places up the road that serve excellent food at very reasonable prices.

Now we come to the bar, everything you get is in a small plastic cup with one ice cube don’t ask for vodka and orange coz it aint orange!! yuk.. you'll be ok if you stick to coke, sprite, orange or lemon fanta. The bar staff are ok, i met a nice girl called clare (she's English) she does the day shift and was pleasant.

The reception staff are i think the rudest people i've ever met in my life, they don’t smile are very unhelpful, when you ask a question like where do i catch a bus into Ibiza town your told i don’t know because they cant be bothered to help, you ask them to call you a taxi and they give you a dirty look... and on the last day when we checked out i asked where could i put my bags, well this ----- threw the key over the counter at me. I don’t know how i didn't punch her lights out but i made a point of handing back the key and asking her again "where should i put my bags and this time tell me properly" my face i think said it all. (watch out for this girl with the dark long curly hair) horrible person!

most of the hotel guests are either Spanish or Italian, some Germans and the English guest we did talk to said the same thing as us about the rude reception staff, when one of the guess went to complain about the rude staff the manager would not come out of his office to see them and another couple kicked up a stink also but were told don’t like it leave... they were then chucked out of the hotel onto the street, they had to book into another hotel up the road.

I beg you dont stay at this place you will hate it!

“We had a great holiday here”

Hotel Club San Remo

14 Jul 2008

I am a single parent travelling with 2 children and was moved to this hotel as the hotel I should have been at was overbooked. I had read the reviews and was considering cancelling altogether but am glad I didn't. We were booked for San Remo but ended up in the Estanyol, they are joined by a bridge and it's just like one big hotel with 2 pools. The view from the balcony was amazing, you look right across the water. The pool was small but big enough for the adults to swim and kids to play. There were lots of different nationalities so the kids mingled with the others as there were no other British children when we arrived. Language isn't a barrier when you're playing games in the pool. The jacuzzi is great fun in the bathroom, we had our own foam party as my son decided to put bubble bath in and turn it on to see what happened! The food was okay, I'm not sure why people are moaning, I'm a vegetarian and found something to eat at every meal time, just remember you are in Spain so don't expect British food. The restaurant manager was great, really friendly and found you a seat when it was busy. The snacks aren't up to much so fill up at meal times.
There isn't entertainment in the hotel but with a resort like this there is so much to do that I wouldn't stay in the hotel anyway.
The Rodeo bar across the road is great for adults and children alike, the staff are friendly and the owner even shed a tear when we left, as did both my children.
