“Value for money and relaxing”

H10 Bahia Blanca Rock

29 Feb 2008

Just returned on Monday 25 Feb we stayed for 1 week 2 Adults 1 Child aged 7, On arriving at the Hotel we were greeted by 2 lovely ladies who spoke very good English, Check in was lovely and easy, we sayed on an All Inclusive basis. We found our room very easily using the map they provided, Rooms as many have said before are ok for what you need but could do with a bit of updating. Pool area is great plenty of sunbeds mind you the weather was not great for us 2 days sun, 2 days cloud and 2 days rain but it was still very warm and didn't keep us in. The location is great we went along to the Marina Rubicon and they have a market there Wednesday and Saturday we had some drinks overlooking the Marina and the drinks were no more expensive than anywhere else we stopped in Playa Blanca. The food at the Hotel is ok but like most places Breakfast is always the best it caters for everyones taste whether you like to have a healthy breakfast they always had lots of fresh fruit and yoghurts or freshly cooked pancakes or the traditional English breakfast. because the hotel was not that busy the restaurant was closed during the day so with us being AI we had to order our lunch at the pool bar it was freshly cooked but sometimes all you really want is a cheese bagette and most things came with chips. Evening meals were always nice but we still always have a few meals out we went to Jumbo Chinese and Tipico Canario which were both really nice they are along the promenade towards the ferry, We also had lunch one day at Don Camillos which was very nice the restaurant was packed and you have a good view of the ferry coming in and out. The childrens entertainers were excellent our daughter isn't really one for joining in but by the end of the holiday she was up doing all the dances, The entertainment for the adults is ok but the bar area is very small and a bit warm. All in all we had a lovely relaxing holiday and we will definately go back to this hotel again but on a self catering basis as all restaurants are close by. My husband went to Mollies Irish bar a few times to watch the footie and he found it a very friendly place.

Just got back from 1 week at Bahia Blanca Rock, Playa Blanca, Lanzarote. It was brilliant. The resort of Playa Blanca was clean, quiet & felt very safe but still had lots of choice of Bars & Restaurants. We specially liked the good number of places serving real Spanish Tapas & dishes as well as the more usual international fare. The main playa Dorada beach is gorgeous & the whole seafront is pedestrianised. The Hotel was great value for money & although we only booked self catering the 6 euro breakfast was such good value with loads of variety we ended up having it every day. The apartments were perfectly roomy & adequate with full kitchen facilities . The Hotel staff were Friendly, helpful & efficient, as were most people we encountered throughout the resort. Specially enjoyed the towns carnival last Saturday 23/2 which had a real Rio carnival atmosphere about it. We are looking forward to another visit & recomend this Aparthotel & Resort again to anyone apart from maybe party animals & young clubbers without hesitation.

“This is a budget hotel and feels like it”

I stayed on a self-catering basis and the accommodation was very satisfactory - well-equipped kitchen, always plenty of hot water, everything kept spotlessly clean. In one sense, the hotel is very well located at the East end of Playa Blanca - with the centre and the Marina Rubicon both within 15 minutes' walk, and the nearest beach and the kid's playpark even closer. There's also a Netto supermarket right opposite. The downside is that it borders a reasonably busy road, so the terraces of all the rooms on that side of the hotel get a moderate level of traffic noise.
For self-caterers, there was an option of buying meal deals on the spot - e.g. the three days' half board for only 45 euros, which I tried. Being buffets, the meals were plentiful, but frankly, after a couple of days, they began to feel a bit samey and a bit canteeny.
The evening entertainment provided was rather hit-and-miss (more miss than hit) and suffered from the small size of the bar area, with a couple of columns blocking the view of the small stage for some. If the bar felt cramped, so did the reception area, and even the area round the swimming-pools. In terms of spaciousness, this definitely felt like a lower-end hotel. I suppose you get what you pay for. My stay was pretty cheap (although extras - like 1 euro for 10 minutes' internet access - could be very pricey).
All the staff were friendly and helpful, but what about the clientele? Mostly Brits, with a fair number of Germans. Predominantly elderly couples or families with young kids. A distinct lack of Guardian readers, or anyone who seemed really interesting!! Not a good place for the independent traveller who likes socialising! Possibly a good option for people on a tight budget (it's clean, it's comfortable, the food is plentiful), but not the place to take someone you want to impress!

Booked the holiday through jet 2. Prebooked a car and picked it up from the airport it cost £85 for the week a bargain and put £20 of diesel in the car. Went all over the island visiting all the Caeser Manrequi attractions.

The hotel was easy to find in playa blanca and at first there was a problem with the lock on the french door but we mentioned it to the reception and were moved to another room straight away. Rooms basic but have everything you need including a full oven, T.V free and has english channels plus kids programmes! The Kids staff were on hand all day and had two sessions lasting 2 hours each with structured activities at no extra cost. We went with our two children aged 5 and 9years. They were fabulous with the kids and got to know all the kids names who were staying in the hotel. You could sit by the pool in the knowledge that the kids were safe, you could see the play area and there was no way the kids could get out without passing you by the pool that way the kids felt free to relax with their new friends and parents could sit reading in the relaxing atmosphere around the pool. In the evening there was entertainment laid on everynight with a mini disco before the show. The bar and staff were fantastic and produced fabulous cocktails definately to be sampled. The only down side was the restaurant food we tried it one night as it was reasonable in price but were disappointed, it was a buffet and food was left sitting around in trays under lights. We ate out or self catered, plenty of lovely restaurants within 10 mins walk and a large well stocked supermarket over the road. The location is quiet and there is no noise at all on a night so you will get a good nights sleep. Maids came round and cleanned the appartment daily and made the beds and linen and towels changed regularly.

“Lovely Hotel.”

The hotel is brilliant. We went as a couple but there seemed to be loads of stuff for the kids to get up to. I can't really comment on food or entertainment as thats not our thing. But the location of the accomodation is very good just a 5 / 10 minute walk into central Playa Blancha. Or a 2 euro cab ride back up the hill whatever is for you. The apartments were very spacious. Towels were provided (saves weight in the case) and the maid service was very good.

BAD POINTS

There aren't any apart from we had flash floods the worst in 5 years they reckon and because it 'hardly ever rains in Lanzarote' the apartments flooded only slightly on the top floor but down stairs people had a river running through the their apartments about 2 inches deep. So if there's any chance of rain keep ypur things off the floor. - But on this point i think nearly every place on in Playa Blancha that day flooded.
