“slightly dissapointed”

Just returned from lanzarote princess. We were lucky and had a nice room on first floor (not refurbished) overlooking the pool but many people had not so good rooms i.e. poor outlook and/or poor condition.
The hotel in general is not now four star and although it is clean and tidy it can be best descibed as "tired". We found all the staff polite and helpful and the facilities good from the library to the crazy golf. The pool area is spacious with plenty of beds(60c pp for mattress and towel). Entertainment in the evening was good with professional acts, the hotels own entertainment team and an exellent piano bar. The restuarant was disappointing, it needs refurbishing and was poorly organised and at times was more like a canteen but there was a variety of choices all edible ,but not four star standard.
The location is good for the beach, shops, bars and restuarants.
Playa Blanca is a nice clean town with good roads and pavements and all the amenities one needs on a holiday.
In conclusion many people we spoke to go there every year but admit that the standard has dropped in recent years.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Lanzarote Princess and would highly recommend it to other people. The rooms have undergone recent renovation and are of a extremely high standard: modern, clean and spacious. One of our two rooms had a problem with the toilet when we arrived, after informing reception, somebody from maintenance arrived and fixed the problem in 5 minutes, incredibly good service.

The restaurant is spacious and the food is good and varied, the carvery meat everynight is something I particularly enjoyed. The outdoor pool is really good, it is cleaned every morning and is very large. All the outdoor area at the back of the hotel is very nice.

I however do have three criticisms: entertainment was awful (people miming to original songs being playing over the speakers, which requires no talent) but this didn't concern me as we just simply didn't watch it, the corridors to rooms have not yet been updated and some of the carpets are wearing and the overall feel is quite old fashioned and the hotel doesn't look to attractive from the front. However, don't let these minor visual things bother you as the rooms and public areas are extremely nice, staff are friendly and the location is top notch.

I have just returned from a week at the Lanzarote Princess . After reading some of the reviews I was worried about the state of the rooms , however, I have to say our room was fine. Very Clean with new fixtures and bathroom.

The public areas of the hotel though are very disappointing - everything is is need of a new lick of paint etc. At present I dont think this is anywhere close to 4 star and I was rather disappointed on the whole.

The food during our stay was rather poor. In fact to be honest it was the worst I have ever had in a hotel. During my stay we ate out a few nights at local restaurants which actually added to our holiday. Watch out for the waiting staff too - some and i repeat some ! can be very rude to customers.

In conclusion , The hotel is located in an excellent spot, close to the beach and town. We enjoyed out stay and will be going back soon, but to a different hotel.

From earlier reviews (on this site & others) we thought the hotel would be a bit 'jaded & tired.' Not so at all we felt, perhaps it has had a recent facelift as we felt it was worth its 4* grading. Very well run, friendly and efficient staff, excellent food and nice and close to the town. Perhaps two 'highlights' worth mentioning. First, we and about 10 other couples arrived late (as our flights were late) and thus missed the expected supper. However the Hotel took the trouble to re-open the restaurant after our arrival and gave us supper. Admittedly it was just a cold salad, but welcome nevertheless. Second, we returned one afternoon to our room to find a bottle of Sekt in an icebucket, plus glasses and a 'Happy Birthday' card from the management. It was my 68th Birthday and we found out that the Hotel's Public Relations lady check the possports of all arrivals for birthdays during guests stay. A nice touch.

Two minor perhaps not quite so good points. The Gym is rather small & perhaps could do with a bit of an upgrade. Also one pays 60cents per person per day for a pool mattress and towel. Hardly a fortune, but really necessary we wondered? However they were nice mattresses and the towels were freshly laundered each day.

Overall though a most pleasant hotel and one we would seriously consider revisiting one day.

Just returned from a one week stay, at what looked like a very nice hotel - but once past reception and the cocktail bar, the rooms were not good, need updating desperately. This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel - well it isn't. We moved rooms because we were at the back of the hotel overlooking the skip which contained old bathroom fittings, not a pleasant site. The move took us to a better room overlooking the pool area but still in need of updating to 4 star standard. They are refurbishing the rooms, but apparently this has been going on for 2 years now. Most of the guests had been going to the Princess year after year, so perhaps the owners don't feel it is necessary to update it.

The food was less than average, if you like chips, chicken, lasagne/canelloni then you may enjoy it, but for us the variety was very poor, one night there was roast beef, which was so rare the chef was frying it off to finish off cooking. There was no fresh fruit at breakfast time, only in the evening, so everyone was taking it to their rooms for the next day. The staff in the dining room were constantly running around filling up the trays of food, but not when they were nearly empty, they waited until they were completely empty, then the guests had to wait until they were refilled. It was fire fighting on a grand scale. One morning at breakfast a waitress came round taking the coffee creamers and empty cups off the tables, without saying a word, as they were obviously short for the other tables.

Having said all this, the staff generally were OK, some fo the bar staff were not so good, watch your change here. If you want anything ask Daniel the porter on reception he is first class, so helpful. When we moved rooms, he did it all for us. So give him a nice big tip, he is the best.

Needless to say we will not be returning to this hotel.
