This was a first holiday together for my wife and our 5 month old son. We generally prefer more exotic, far flung destinations but wanted something family orientated with a shorter flight time to see how our young son would cope with the journey and the 4 stars H10 Lanzarote Princess seemed to fit the bill even though I know a 4 star in Spain will vary greatly from one in say Phuket or the USA.

We booked through Cosmos and used our Tesco club card vouchers so the actual cost of just over £1000 was reduced to £75! Absolutely brilliant, if anyone needs an insight into how the Tesco club card vouchers work send me a message. Anyway I digress on to the meat of the review:

First impressions of the H10 Lanzarote Princess were good then bad. The reception area is elegant if a little dated with lots of marble but check in was smooth and thankfully we weren't pressured into having a porter take our bags up to the room. Unfortunately the room although cleaned had dirty towels left in the bath and a used ashtray left next to the TV. This was soon sorted by a quick call to reception and housekeeping arrived quickly with fresh towels.

The room (number 2076) is about 5 along from the lift and was clean but again a little dated. There was some noise from inconsiderate people walking by and you could hear the entertainment each night but realistically this is a family hotel so this isn't a complaint. The room featured aircon (a little noisy) plus twin beds, a cot, TV, safe and a very nice large balcony plus an ensuite bathroom including sink bath/shower and bidet. Annoyingly to use the safe was an extra €15 for the week and scandalously if you wanted a fridge/minibar this was €2.50 per day with a minimum €20 spend!

The pool area was great for families, it has secure (key card access) on the back gate and has 2 play areas. The pool itself has 3 separate sections around a central "island"/pool bar. One section was heated but it wasn't really warm enough even though I was swimming in all 3 by the end of the week. Also as a leaning to Lanzarote's volcanic roots the pool has large black volcanic rocks as pool decoration which isn't ideal for youngsters and annoyingly there is a daily charge for towels and cushions for the sun loungers.

We were on a half board basis and I must say the restaurant is excellent. Clean, friendly helpful staff and a great choice at both breakfast and dinner. Out of the 7 nights we never had any disappointing meals.

Location wise the H10 Princess beats it sister hotels (Rubicon Marina and Timanfaya Palace) hands down. They are a good 2KM walk from Playa Blanca centre but the Princess is only 200M from Playa Dorada beach and equidistant (10 minutes walk each way) from the new upscale Marina one end along to the fishing and ferry port at the other. The whole prom is clean well lit and lined with nice restaurants and shops; it really seemed much more classy than most of Spain's older tacky resorts.

To summarise I would definitely come again with my family. Although the whole hotel could probably do with a little TLC it does exactly what it says on the tin. This is a reasonably priced family orientated beach hotel in a great location that serves decent food and has great staff. We felt safe, the room was nice and the resort of Playa Blanca was lovely.

Have just returned from our 7 night holiday in Lanzarote, staying at the H10 Lanzarote Princess, Playa Blanca.
First of all i would just like to say, we went on this holiday as part of my Fiancée's 18th birthday which fell half way through the week and everything we wanted for her to make her birthday special happened, and more! Before we went on this holiday we read some of the reviews about this hotel on this website and the negatives that we read were just a joke. There were 3 generations on this holiday, Teens, Middle Ages and Seniors, and all 6 of us agree that the people who wrote those negative reviews must have been staying in the Bin outside rather than in this brilliant hotel.
They commented on the food saying it was not very nice and not enough choice, well i couldn't even try each item as there was too much, and at that it was all extremely good. There was themed nights and for example there were: Chinese, Mexican, Canarian and general spanish nights. On the day of the birthday we went out to the pool and the beach and went on a Jetski which was amazing for her birthday, it was 70 Euro's for 2 people for 15 mins, when we returned from the beach we walked into our room to find a Bottle of Champagne in an Ice Bucket and a birthday card to her, which we thought was absolutely lovely and this was through the hotel looking at her passport etc and seeing that it was her birthday. Then later that night we went to eat at the restaurant and earlier that day we spoke to the head waiter and he had reserved the table we wanted and decorated it beatifully with white napkins (all the other tables were red) and white table cloths, cream balloons hanging above and a decoration of beautiful red flowers, we also asked for a birthday cake to be brought to the table, we had to pay for that but it was lovely and came with candles etc, then to add to all of that the head waiter came over to us and once again gave us a Bottle of even finer champagne on the table, at no cost at all.
Another negative comment we read was about the decor, well we sent an email to the hotel prior to our stay asking if we could have 3 adjoined rooms for our group, and when we checked in there they were, 3 adjoined rooms and above that all 3 were brilliantly refurbished with lovely cream furniture, a very modern clean bathroom and a Flat Screen LCD TV, so once again im not sure where the negative people stayed at all, and we looked in an unfurbished room and that was still lovely and spacious and nicely decorated, as was the outside of the hotel and the pool area, all nicely painted and the garden area was being seen to everyday, as was for painters and decoraters redecorating certain areas.
As you can see from my review, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, no idea which staff the negative people spoke to as all of the staff we spoke to were lovely and helpful and could speak better english than i can myself, no idea what the people were like that don't agree with me about the staff.
Once again this review is for the 6 people who went on this holiday, and each couple are different generations and we all agree that the hotel is brilliant. Would definetly return and well worth its 4 star rating.

“Had a great Stay”

H10 Lanzarote Princess

We have just returned from our stay at the Lanzarote Princess where we had a great week. I e mailed in advance directly to the hotel to see if we could get a refurbished room. They e mailed me back saying my request had been noted and when we got there we were indeed given a refurbished room, which was very nice. There are refurbishments going on but it does not affect the guests. The only thing not to my liking was the cold pool. Once you got in it was ok but getting in was a different matter !!!
The food was good and varied and the entertainment was ok. The entertainment team did a very good show with the Starlight express. We walked to the Rubicon hotel which was a great walk and then back again. It was approx 6 miles round trip. There is a bus if you prefer, but the walk is lovely with many stops at cafes. We would go back again. We had lovely weather as well.

The H10 Pricess is a nice hotel, very clean and very friendly.
My wife and I went on the 28th February for a 7 night stay.
The rooms are vey nice and comfortable with maid sevice every day
The problem is the renovation work that is underway inside the hotel on the ground floor.
Unless they close the hotel there is no other way to carry out the renovations but.....from about 08.00 the guys start work so if you are expecting a sleep in you are not going to get it and this work goes on until 17.30 in the afternoon.Unsure of how long this will take but certainly worth a rain check before booking.
Entertainment is average and nothing out of the ordinary..magic shows, balancing acts,"the platters tribute" etc
The food in the hotel was pretty average ...plenty of choice but a lttle boring.
There are plenty of sun loungers but to get the best spots you need to up early..."us brits" are a nightmare for this some people were putting towels out and not returning until mid afternoon which is poor form.
The covers for the loungers attract a charge per day of 0.60 cents which includes a towel.
The hotel has a happy hour from 17.00hrs to 16.00hrs and that is 2 for 1
Drinks inside the hotel are not priced to badly...my wife and I found it cheaper to drink inside the hotel than in the resort.
We were paying on average 12 Euro,s for a Vodka and Coke and Gin and Tonic in the resort...the same drinks were costing 9 Euros in the hotel.
Beer and Lager about the same prices inside the hotel as in the resort
Playa Blanca is a lovely resort and coming out the back of the hotel and heading directly across the road towards the beach you can turn left for the marina and right for bars and restaurants which are two decent walks.

“Muchas Gracias ..... BUT”

H10 Lanzarote Princess

6 Mar 2008
0/1 found this review helpful

Just had a FAB weeks holiday at The Lanzarote Princess. Have stayed there twice before but this time we felt it didn't have the usual WOW factor. Beautifully clean, most staff very pleasant when you get to know them, food excellent, rooms lovely,
BUT
Sun Beds - A lot of broken ones
Dining Room/Restaurant - Needs Bulldozing - Its like a Motorway Service Station NOT 4 Star Hotel Standard.
Other noticable annoyances are -
In the Hotel Information Book in your room it states amongst other things.
1. Do not reserve sub beds
2. Do not take food from the Dining Room.
Both of these things were happening. The food didn't affect us except we thought it was rude to do this. BUT the Sun Beds were reserved when folk went out for at least half a day consequently when we came back from our game of golf at 10.30am we couldn't find a sub bed to have a rest on.
IF this is stated in the Information then it needs to be carried out. It won't do anyone any harm ........ will it?
We will come back to the Princess maybe in a couple of years but in the meantime please do something with it (or reduce it to 3 Star) otherwise it WILL be the last time.
