We stayed here in the october break last year. First impression was great, the hotel looked reaaly good. Reception was very spacious and airy, although the marble floors and stairs are not the safest for young children.

We were booked in as standard all inclusive but were lucky enough to receive a room right on the sea front, which was a plus.
The only problems we had with the room was the ants. We woke one morning to find a couple of them on our pillows, which did not amuse me very much as I really do hate things like that! We found that there was lots more of them in more or less every corner of the room! It was not pleasant. Another slight disappoinment was the smell of sewage between the apartments and the main building, but to their credit they were doing everything they could to remedy this.

The pools were great, although a little cold. The main pool was always a little busy but the other smaller pools were nice and quiet so you were always guaranteed a good spot to sunbathe!

We mostly went to the buffet each night in the main building, but one evening decided to try the ala'carte 'restruant' (which was an extra charge as it was not included in the all inclusive) but we were very disappointed with this as there wasn't a good choice of food, it was expensive and really not that great, we would be better sticking with the buffet which was very good and had something for everyone!

Also, watch personal items at all times. We had a phone stolen!

All in all we did enjoy our holiday at the rubicon but I don't think we would return.

“Dissappointed”

went to this hotel with an open mind after reading the reviews on here, like we have done in the past.
You walk into the hotel and it is very impressive. But look a litle further and you'll see how tired it is

Reception

was very rushed the receptionist couldn't wait to book us in and get rid of us. gave us a scrappy bit of paper to say where the AI was allowed and a badly photocopied bit of paper trying to encourage you to upgrade to a better AI blue band, and telling you what you're allowed to have and not allowed in AI.
she pointed us to our room and that was it, next.No have a nice time or anything. On checking out handed over our keys and safe key gave us our deposit back and walked away, no goodbye nothing very un welcoming.

Followed her instructions at to where our room was long walk away from the lift on the seventh floor.
bedroom were clean but very dated, two large beds and a put me up for our 13 year old son, and a balcony with two chairs and a table with a nice view.
beds however were very very very hard. Bathroom was large, howver felt very dusty and a bit grubby, The maid cleaned our room very well.

Fodd was ok in snack bar by pool time it right and you get fresh pizza's but they go very quickly. A little tip, buy a bottle of water in the supermarket up the road and fill this up with the free water for your room, don't get bottles of water.

food in restaurants well presented an lots to choose from, included stuff for diabetics and some diet bread seed nuts etc. but can understand how people have said it would get boring. Waiters were ok but two mornings for breakfast there was no coffee and they just shrugged there shoulders and walked away. couple of the plates were cracked and dirty.

The entertainment is a joke the worst I've seen, spent most of our nights in the piano bar, which was not a lot better, however it was easier for us as it was near the pc where our son spent every evening on the internet, as there was nothing for him to do.
One day we did take a look at the teen club, supposed to be archery but they were playing chase (my son is 13 not 6)

The pools are impressive, and on most internet sights you see them all lovely and blue and empty, that is because they are so cold, they don't even warm up in the afternoon only went in once or twice, also watch around the pools tiles missing and quite slippery cos of the scum around the edges. Also by the poolside snack bar, you can see where the food and debris from there gets blown into yep the pool.
plenty of subeds loads of them so no worries there not a lot of umbrellas

the hotel was full of spanish and only really geared to them ,
The hotel is huge and spread out, but not much to do or see.
there are a few bars a couple of minutes from the hotel that you could walk to.

there is a little rocky bay outside the hotel that is great for snorkling

We caught the free bus to the town, not much to do there either.
On the whole very disappointed.
I quite but my finger on it, nothing wrong with the place but nothing right with it either
would not reccomend this hotel to my friends or family

We returned from Rubicon Palace yesterday, we went with another couple. Hotel is really nice, lobby big and looks really nice. Check in was fast, we were told we could go to lunch and our rooms would be ready by 3pm, we finished earlier and rooms were ready.
Beds nice and big, rooms fairly big. Had a nice view and could see the sea from our balcony. we were in a nice area, seemed to be away from everyone but still close to main area and small shops in complex. (9925)
2 main restaurants in hotel: we went all incl. food was lovely. you could upgrade to get brand drinks etc but we had plenty with standard (beer, cocktails, wine, etc)
we always ate at around 9am, 130pm and 8pm which were really nice times and fairly relaxed. we did once make the mistake of eating lunch at 2:45pm one day, BIG mistake, very busy and people from a certain country cannot queue or wait their turn! another tip, eat in the tabaiba restaurant which opens slightly later than the other one which means less children in the evening so quieter.
6 pools, one massive! cold but ok once your in.
Never problems gettting sunbeds. always some spare so you dont have to get up at 6am to put your towels on.
i wouldnt wait for the bus into town as always alot of people wanting to get on, just ask reception to get a taxi, only costs 3.75 euros.
piano bar nice and relaxing.
Dont do fly fish (watersports at beach) u may not survive!
Overall, brilliant holiday, would def go again.
Did fly with thomas cook though who delayed 3 flights on the way home, ours for 7 hours due to plane windscreen smashing!!

Just arrived back from this lovely hotel on Monday morning. What can i say about this place.
Me and my husband stayed here from 29th june till 6th july for our honeymoon. The flight and transfer were good. Got to the hotel at 10pm. Reception was very fast at booking us in. Told us where we could get something to eat. Really nice and friendly with us. We got to our room and had a quick nosey round it before going for some food. the room was fairly big and very clean. We had a very beautiful view of the sea and fuertaventura from our balcony. They even had a bottle of champaign waiting for us as a wedding gift which i thought was a very nice touch.
The hotel is very big and beautiful and extremely clean. Always somebody cleaning gardening ect ect. The maid cleaned our room everyday even when we said it didn,t need doing. The restaurants were bjg and the food was very nice. Always hot and fresh. My husband was spoilt for choice as to what to eat. Now i,m a really fussy eater but i ate very well while i was there. I put on half a stone.
The entertainment was quite good. They were great with the kids. We even went to the mini disco everynight even though we had no kids with us. They have plenty of activities going on during the day for both adults and kids.
Now then about the pools. Several of them. Main pool very big n very busy. We found a smaller one n quieter one near the british bar. It had a waterfall. This was our favourite pool and we spent everyday down there for several hours. I will warn you the pools are very cold when you first get in but within 30 seconds you feel warm in them.
One member of staff we found to be very nice helpful n spoke really good english. His name was jose. We had a great night with him when he was working in the british bar. Really funny guy n very hardworking as are all the staff.
We enjoyed it so much at this hotel that we are going back next year for 2 weeks and we are taking the kids. I think they will love just as much as we did. And the weather was great very very hot n sunny. Hope anyone going there enjoy it as much as we did.
I will add some photos very soon.

“The most relaxing holiday you could ask for.”

H10 Rubicon Palace

30 Jun 2008

My best friend and I booked this holiday in Februray this year as a treat for ourselves once we had finished studying at university.
We booked the holiday hoping it would be the relaxing time we desired and it was exactly that.

The flights are short (3 hrs from cardiff), the bus journey is short (30mins, first stop), there is no time difference. All plus points.
We arrived at 12.30pm. Hotel advertises that rooms are not available until 3pm but Thomson did not tell us. Hotel advised we'd have to wait till 1.30pm. At 1.30pm the room was not ready, we were not happy and the hotel managed to immediately find us a room so don't take their first answer as set in stone.

Hotel is wonderful. The standard inside the hotel is amazing. It looks like a 5* hotel. Very very classy. We visited the sister hotel and it is not as plush as this one. There are continually cleaners, gardeners, handimen touching up the communal areas. Reception staff are always happy to help. Plenty of space for socialising or chilling out away from other people. Hotel is popular with Spanish people.

Rooms are average but very very clean and they have tv, hairdryers, safe etc. Lots of rooms have sea and pool views from balcony. You never have far to walk to either a pool or eating area.

Pools - Plenty, always found a sunbed with a parasol. Look around....smaller pools are quieter.

Restuarants. Food is wonderful, there is an outrageous selection. You can basically have whatever you want to eat or drink any time of day. When I arrived on the first day I could not understand how anyone would get bored of the food. But I must admit that even when your given a huge selection you do get bored. Food is always fresh and hot. The waiter/waitress service is brilliant they are so attentive. We used to sit outside at meal times because you didn't have people pushing past.

Location - Out of the way. We preffered this as it is quieter. There is a free bus to the sister hotel but it doesn't run regularly. Taxi's are approx 5euros to the centre of playa blanca. Can walk to playa blanca, takes about 45 mins along the front which is a nice stroll.

Spa - Visited the spa after winning a free entry in the bingo. The spa is ok but not really worth the money. Is a good option when the weather is cloudy and you don't want to go shopping in town.

Entertainment - Basic entertainment trying to cater for spanish, english and children. Bingo, bird shows, Grease reinactment, boys vs girls, childrens disco, magic show etc the usual. Don't expect wild nights out here, it is not the place and there are not many bars near.

Local places - The shops and beaches in Playa blanca are nice. Visit the bar, 5 minutes along the front from the hotel. Costs 8 euros for a cocktail but you can enjoy it lounging on a comfy bed with pillows looking at the view of fuerteventura, pure relaxation.
