We have stayed in Playa Blanca 3 times previously, twice at The Timanfaya Palace Hotel which we loved and once in a villa. We thought that the apartment hotel would tick all the boxes as we now have two young children. The location is fantastic, right by the beach (storm damaged but still useable and golden sand) and a lovely walk into the main town. The apartments are pretty basic and the beds are absolutely awful. It is worth noting that the apartments dont have airconditioning which I think would be a major problem in the summer months.. it was bad enough in April. We had to change rooms three times! The first was next to the Blue Moon nightclub/bar and the next room smelled of sewage, so bad in fact that it woke us up.. the last room was ok but the bathroom was so dimly lit it was almost pitch black. On the positive side whenever we had a problem or complained about anything it was dealt with immediately. This time of year the hotel is a 'Blue Village' as mentioned in some previous reviews. This basically means that the whole place is geared up to Scandinavian guests... so much so that we were greated in Swedish each morning on our way to breakfast. The pools look inviting but they are way too cold to be enjoyable... a 'solar heated pool' basically means unheated! In summary a lovely location and an 'ok' complex, so if you are looking for a base to enjoy a great holiday in Playa Blanca and are not too fussed about the actual hotel ammenities then this is for you... if not spend a few pounds more and stay at the Timanfaya Palace Hotel.
