It's more a very sociable campsite and less of a hostel.. we had a great couple of days here, spent lots of time chilling in the lounge, played far too much Monopoly, and came home thoroughly relaxed.
The location is fine for travelling into the city once per day, maybe twice. The shuttle was quick and reliable, as was the metro to Centraal or Nieuwmarket. It's surrounded by some beautiful countryside and was lovely to chill by the lake for a few hours when the sunshine came out.
Breakfast was plentiful - bread, cereal, jam/spread, pancake batter, orange juice. Free tea/coffee all day was welcomed in the cold weather. Kitchen area was spacious enough for everyone cooking, and the large tables were very sociable for meals.
Heaters were available to rent cheaply which was also appreciated! The lounge was lovely and chilled, with an ipod dock, big communal table, board games, etc. Much more drinking happening than at places like the Flying Pig hostels, but smokers were welcomed and it was a great place to hide from the rain and relax.
Would love to return next year, but sadly that may depend on whether coffeeshops stay open to tourists.. we shall see!
