Tokaj has some of the most famous wine in the world, but unless you are a hyper-wine snob, this town can be done in a day. See the caves, do the tasting, buy your bottles, see the museum, maybe take in the little antique store, walk the river bank down to the riverside terrace for dinner and ice cream...and you are done!
You are not going to get a gourmet meal here, and you are not here for the opera...it's the wine and that's it. And this hotel serves your puposes perfectly. Nothing fancy, this place is obviously Soviet-era in style. The one really nice thing about this place over all the others in town is the balcony. The design is very similar to the Marriott in Budapest because you can sit on your balcony and look out on the vineyards of Tokaj. Have your morning coffee on the balcony and watch all the little, old men toiling in their fields. Then, pick out which one you will go visit (really). Everyone of these guys has a little cave stashed in the hills and will be more than happy to let you taste his wares in hopes that you will buy one of his bottles (buy it). Don't worry about the language, they all know why you are there. That is the most fun I have ever had in Tokaj!
