9th June for 1 week
The hotel itself was amazing and spotless.
However........ apart from your room the hotel itself, didnt have aircon, you would go to the buffet for a cool down and a drink and it was hotter in there than it was outside. Maybe they only put it on the summer holidays!
The room was of reasonable size and modern again spotless, was in room 527 was one from the end had a view of roof however if you crooked your neck to the left the view of pool and beach was amazin. Just wished we were a few room down to the left.
However..... half way thought he stay the sheets were cleaned and new ones were put on, the new sheet had dried crusted blood on i pulled the sheet back for the maid to see but it was redone again with the dirty sheet, i pulled it off and redone the bed myself. YUK!! Curtain also full of holes.
Fantastic, the pool by the jucuzzi i have no idea how to spell that was slightly heated. The jucuzzi itself has a sign over 16 or 18 only however young children (and even babies were in it with their parents). I saw the lifeguard a few times picking bits of leaves up and fixing the filter however i never saw him watching and observing people in the pool.
The pool bar is open from around 11am for drinks and icecream.
However......... food is only there 3-5, i say food it was trays of sandwiches, pizza, and hotdogs on rotation and chips, and bread which were covered in flies, I have never seen anything like it it was gross.
Oh yes also managed to get a bed even at 10.30, however i dont see how there would be enough come school holidays, they were not very steardy and the larger people had 2 beds stacked which i thought was a good idea, but not if you didnt have a bed.
The buffet is small so i dont know how everyone fits in, in the heat of summer, food was luke warm, unless you get it when they just put it out, but there was a microwave so that was fine.
However.......... flies covered the cold food, one time a saw 5 on the cheese and 4 on the ham. Not much choice and on the last day i heard a older couple discussing the lack of variety to another couple, i am a vegi and lived on chip batchs, rice and tomato pasta there was pizza one day but it never appeared again :(. The children had there own buffet down the end, again cold items not covered and covered in flies. Staff would walk past them.
On the first day i went to the bar for a drink to be told we come to you, each time we had eaten our meal before anyone came with a a drink, i had to wave to attract attention.
You also had to have a good luck round to find a clean tablecloth, they we not changed, and were smothered in sauces and salt etc. The buffet really let this place down.
The beach is the best i have seen in the whole world, and is through the pool and gardens. See through water with fish swimming around, which did freak me out the first few minutes. Look out for the wind though, you will need to rent a bed otherwise you will get covered in sand.
The entertainers worked so hard they were from all over europe and spoke good english. The night shows were always changed on the board though, only one night we were there there was a band on they rest of the time it was the same entertainers doing the shows, most of which were excellent. They tried so hard :), and are a real credit to the hotel.
Its about a 10 minutes walk through a sandy path to the start of caleta and its shops etc. I stayed at the barcelo 3 years ago and nothing has changed in that time. No chipmunks to be found on this occasion, i even took food as well :(.
Went on the oasis trip, brilliant day out for all ages.
Also on the catlanza to papayo beach in lanzarote, rep stuart said and i quote "I went on it a few weeks ago and its really smooth", i was sea sick along with 4 others the whole way there. A wasted day and wasted 59 euros. You couldnt even swin to the beach it was about half a mile away from where you stopped. Did get a 3 minute jet ski ride on it though which was a good laugh.
There was no courtsey room to get changed on the last day, even the barcelo when it was a 2 star had one. Was told we are full, we have had to turn people away, which is a regular excuse i have read on here.
Would i return yes i would but not on an all inclusive basis, its not worth it, the breakfast is the only decent meal of the day, so i would go B&B it you can get that.
Oh and wouldnt say its a 4 star either id say 3 plus. Plus the health and hygiene need to sort this place out as well as it could well be a 5 star if the above issues are addressed.
The oasis park a fabulous day out for everyone :)
Also get a high floor

dear sir / madam,

Thank you very much for the comments you wrote about our hotel.
I am happy to see that eventhough you write some negative remarks, you want to come back and stay with us in bed&breakfast wich we also offer.
Maybe next time you come we can discuss about the comments you wrote as I do not completely agree with you, for example the health and savety in our hotel is checked regularly by a professional company and I can honestly say that we have never had any problems.
I hope to see you again soon.
