I arrived at Pegasus Bay about 1pm and my lunch reservation was for 1:30pm. I did the wine tasting before lunch. Lunch was the best meal experience of the trip both for the quality of the food and the service. I ordered the black truffle frittata with basil, chive, and pecorino cheese as a starter and a 30 day dry aged rib-eye with watercress and shallots for my main. I was given a complimentary mushroom soup served in an espresso cup. The soup was very creamy and flavorful. The waitress offered to let me move to a window table since a table had become open. My water glass was never left empty during the entire meal. This was the level of service provided throughout my visit. The frittata was excellent, perfectly cooked. For the steak, they had a chimichurri type sauce and also a selection of 5 different mustards. I picked the horseradish and tarragon mustards. The steak was very tender and tasted outstanding. I matched the steak with a glass of their merlot/malbec maestro wine. For dessert, I had the profiteroles with amaretto ice cream and chocolate sauce. Even if you don’t eat at Pegasus make sure you stop in just to view the gardens. I sat on the leather couch by the fire in the restaurant after lunch and strolled through the gardens. I spent a couple of hours after lunch just relaxing. Make sure you visit the toilet to read some of the funny sayings on the walls.
