Arrived back yesterday, this was a return visit and five years later it was as enjoyable an experience as the first time. I spent a week with my 16 year old daughter. Initially we were given a 3rd floor room in San Jorge it was clean with a partial sea view, the weather was extremely windy and this meant that we were unable to use the balcony and the wind kept us awake, after two days we asked to move to a less windy aspect, the staff were very helpful and showed us another room which was ok but still facing the wind, at this we then decided to upgrade to a sea view room in the Antigua it was worth the extra 6 euros a night.
We didnt eat at the hotel but found some lovely places in the town, it was a little quiet for my 16 year old in the resort but overall we had a peaceful time sitting around the pool during the day and eating in the evening. My only complaint is that the rooms have no soundproofing and you can hear everything through the walls!!
Overall a good holiday with helpful staff in a central location.

We spent 5 nights on a self catering basis and had paid for a sea view room. The apartment was average size in reasonable order - some fittings starting to show sign of age. Towels are changed every 2 days & rooms cleaned 5 days out of 7 to good standard. We were fortunate to have a 30 ft long balcony in sheltered location which got the sun from first thing in the morning until around 6 pm with only the pool and the promenade between us and the sea. Taking into account what we paid we have no complaints. The external areas were well maintained, cleaners out every morning at 8am cleaning the pool, sun beds, tiled areas etc. one morning with a pressure wash! We cannot comment on the food as we eat out, and only used the bars on a couple of occasions. All in all, a good location at a very reasonable price.

Well where do i start. Its a massive complex, three hotels into one and this is where the problem is. There is not enough staff to cover the area, not enough cleaners, maintainence staff etc. It would be nice if they spent a bit of cash on the fabric of the building and the food, i will come on to the food a bit later. we requested a cot fo our 22 month old son and were given the most rusty metal framed contraption. They did change it eventually ( went to reception then had to follow up with a further phone call) The rooms are not cleaned on thursdays or sundays so we had nappies piling up. we ended up taking them to the bins outside the hotel. The cleaning wan't up to much to be honest but thats because there's not enough staff to cover the hotel. We stayed in the san jorge bit, we were all inclusive as it was only £20 extra per person but we still had a kitchen area. we tried to get a sea view but the reception staff stated that all those rooms were taken. The tap was broken in the sink and they never did fix it. It was handy to have the seperate bedroom so we could put our son to bed. The all inclusive covers local beer and local spirits and all food. Now onto the food, the breakfast is ok, cold meats, pastries, bacon, eggs etc But i would suggest not eating a meal there in the evening, its truely rubbish, same thing every night. They do have theme nights i.e. chinese night which consisted of all the usual bland food and spring rolls and chinese soup (vegetable) and that was chinese night. Really bad, also they have a hot grill where they cook chicken, beef and fish to order but beware they are only briefly shown the grill and will bepopped onto your plate still clucking or mooing !!!. We ended up eating out most nights i can recommend Fado rock - steakhouse, o fado - portugese, mexican corner, and gambrinus for pizza. If you have a car go to el cotillo on the west coast and have a proper canarian meal at el roque de los pescadores overlooking the harbour.

We stayed here in the middle of febuary on an all inclusive basis. The rooms were above standard size and we had a great view being at the front of the hotel. The food was also great with there being a good selection and food cooked to your needs at dinner time. In the Day time the snack bar was great you went in and ordered you food so it was cooked fresh for you. The hotel is quite a walk from the beach but it is well worth going for the day. If you are going all inclusive it would be better to go half board as the entertainment is poor and you have to go out everynight. We went to the Broncemar Beach hotel every night were the entertainment is fantastic and it is only five / ten minute walk away. If you are on a budget the hotel is great.

We arrived at our hotel tired at night after a flight delay. We were booked into the castillo san Jorge which is one of 3 hotels linked together as a complex. The main reception was in the Antigua. We were given the key, loaded ourselves and luggage into the lft and got to the room to find it disgraceful, not cleaned after the previous occupants, rubbish still in room, beds not made etc etc. We stormed back down to reception, not happy bunnies. Receptionist very apologetic and proceeded to find us antoher room. Steve asked where there any sea views and we were told yes but it would cost us an extra 6 euros a night, which Steve paid. We stayed in the Antigua suites which is where the main activities are and the one bedded room was adequate for Steve, ben and myself. We only appreciated the view when it was daylight...perfect. We were fully inclusive which was our first time, and this worked well for ben who certainly got his monies worth from drinks and ice cream. Meals in the resturant were buffet style (Only two dining areas for A.I) buffet style meals were fine and plenty of choice and the snack bar did ore than ample meals throughout the day. All Inclusive stopped at 11pm then you had to pay for drinks etc. Entertainment was ok, a singer guitarist was very good and the snake man did a very entertaining show. The kids entertainer Oswald worked so hard with the kids and boy was he tall!!!! Pepe the evening chef was a miserable so and so scowling at me for putting my finger on the edge of a terrine to sample what it was. I held my hands up and apologised (Not good food hygiene I suppose) but he began to tell his colleagues and point at me and scowl.....not very professional making a customer feel like a naughty child!!!
Mercedes who worked in the snak bar and resrurant was so lovely and always so very cheerful. Hotel was very clean and the maids cleaned your rooms well. 3 fab pools to choose from and plenty of sun loungers. The Antigua pool overlooks the sea.
Caletta itself is only small with a manmade beach but has a nice promenade walk and harbour and plenty of bars and places to eat. The only trouble with AI was that you felt obliged to eat and drink there to get your "Monies Worth" but as Ben had made friends he was happy with the freedom of the complex. Would be happy to go there again, bet its very lively in the summer and very hot.
