We have just returned from a two week all inclusive stay at caleta dorada and after reading the reviews on the morning we left to travel to Fuerteventura I was dreading it. Especially after one person wrote that she had just arrived there and cried since she got there. After a lovely welsh receptionist checked in - I kept thinking something bad has got to happen next - but guess what - it didnt! Our room was lovley and the patio area is lovely. We stayed in C54 and to the right was a mountain view and in front you can see the sea. It was cleaned every other day, with fresh bedding and towels. I wish we had hired a fan though or bought one as the only complaint is that the nights are hot.
The restauarant food was nice too. I was really pleased with the food choice, and my very fussy boyfriend plus a 14 and 4 year children always ate happily. I like the self service of drinks too. I found breakfast time the most busy of meals, and it sometimes could be a bit of a pain finding a table. The lady in the restaurant with the blonde curly hair was always smiling and cheerful.
Good choice of pools. two with bars, the other one did have a pool bar but for some reason that was closed. We tended to go to the main pool cos the kids (and boyfriend) loved the slides. Only pain here was getting a bed. The first week we were there, most of the beds were "reserved" but 2nd week we started to play the game too and put our towles on the beds before we went to breakfast.
The main bar you got served quickly and they gave you good measures of local spirits. Now, I found the bar staff very friendly. There is the guy who looked like a pop star - he was always happy. Then there were the one that looked like a boxer and the other who worked out too. They served you quickly, were very generous with the measures - I loved them. They did there jobs very well. The animation team, Peter and Ashleigh were fab too. The evening entertainment was really good. We did like to go out too to the bars in town but we didnt feel like we had to, its just we mainly stayed in the resort through the day so it was nice to have a change.
The place just needs a little tlc as some of the complex is underused. There is a meditternean restaurant that didnt open, a chinese buffet and a pool bar near the pool with the bridge. This place is a gem but could be so much better. We have stayed all inclusive in mexico and Cuba, but this place was one of our fave holidays. We didnt want to come home when normally after 14 days we all ready to go home - not this time!
I truely believe all the bad commenters must have gone to a different place - maybe the caleta gardens???? I just cant believe they are talking about the same place! each to their own I suppose!!
I would def recommend this place to anyone and want to go back maybe next easter for a week.
Staff are fabulous, rooms do the job, view and grounds amazing, food and drink good too.
One thing, we did hear of a burglary, which must be horrible for the family but they left a window open or something. Tourists are always a target whereever you go so just be careful.
C54 a good room. Choose th C block if possible.
