We booked a bungalow. The complex is central, 5 min. walk to beach and shopping aria. The bungalow was old. There are big cockroathes in the bungalow!!! Every day cleaning and I think they spray poison for the cockroathes. We where 4 days and have about 10 cockroathes.
The food and the service is oke. We are not going back to this place because the cockroathes.

We have just returned from a week at the Barcelo Puerto Castillo apartments - two adults and two children (8 and 10).

This was our first family holiday abroad, and we were uncertain of what we would find - having read reports of apartments with cracks and cockroaches !

We needn't have worried - I can honestly say that the whole family had a fantastic time.

On arrival the staff were friendly and welcoming. The apartment was clean, cool and well equipped - with lovely sea and pool views. The maid service came 5 days out of 7 (as promised) and changed bed linen twice. Bath towels were changed as required.

Our two children went to some of the kids clubs (you can choose to take part or not - at no extra cost) and had a great time. The kids club staff were excellent, making sure that the activities were fun for all and explaining games in several languages.

As we were half-board our breakfast and evening meals were in the hotel restaurant. These were buffet meals, and there was generally always something for everyone. There are also plenty of other restaurants within walking distance if you wanted a change.

Whenever I had a question to ask of the staff I always got a friendly, helpful reply - with a smile.

I would certainly go to this complex again - if I can have the same apartment - and I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend.

We booked this holiday as a last minute cheapie,..a short break beffore xmas.

The puerto castillo apartments are in an Excellent location just around the corner from bars/restuants,3/4 min walk to the beach and short walk to main bus stop for venturing into the capital (rosario) for the shopping complex.
Our Apartment as with all of them,was basic but spotlessly clean with ample towels,bedding..the only complaint my husband had was that ther was no TV...but who goes on hols to watch TV anyway . The pool area is small but nice..we did not use the pool as we have found with all pools in canaries..the water is freezing..it might be a little hotter in high season..the kids that were there didnt seem to mind it being cold though.
The pool bar (Bar Coral) run by english couple Alan & Carly is small and friendly Breakfast,snacks and meals can be had here and great place for a nightcap or late night get togther..we had a few good nights here with other holidaymakers...Alan and Carly are great for letting you know where to go or where not to go around fuste.

Stay away from chinese BUFFET the other resturants are nice but not th buffett

have stayed at puerto castillo now every year for the past 4 years. Visited for the october half term week and was not disappointed. The rooms are air conditioned and have a safe which is free. Most of the rooms overlook the sea and the views are amazing. I thought the rooms were looking like they needed a spruce up as they were built 7 years ago and have not been touched since. However, they are about to be re-furbished and the apartments are closing for the month of November 2007. I also had a problem with getting extra pillows this year and had to request twice. This is unusual. I think i just asked when the maid had a day off. Dont let this put you off though as the apartments were clean, no cockroaches to be seen. I would visit again as very relaxing around the pool and no queue for sunbeds.
