Got back home at 2.15am today and needed to write my review straight away.
We wanted to go away for a weeks peace and quiet. What we got was a week of noise. We sent two emails prior to leaving the UK to ask for the quietest room that they had as I am recovering from 3 operations, we also asked on check in and was told 3007 was quiet.
The room backed onto the main road so you heard every single flipping coach arriving and departing as well as local traffic noise and the dustmen. The room also faced the main pools and as the pool area was packed to the rafters with children screaming and shouting from about 8.30 every morning until after 6pm each day, that is not what I would call quiet !!. And as the pools are enclosed by the four blocks of accommodation the sound is channeled upwards. The roof terrace was supposed to be no children under 12 - that too had loud, shouting kids running riot on it.
Luckily I had some ear plugs in my bag so I had to use them each night to try to get some sleep.
The food was repetitive and often cold and under cooked. And it is a free for all so good luck and wear shoulder pads and shin pads.
The hotel is generally shabby and badly needs updating, the bath had a rust patch in it which we trod on every time we used the shower and I did wonder if one day it would give way, the shower went from scalding hot to mains cold, if I had taken children I would not have let them use the shower.
I swear the bath towels were actually made from cardboard and starch.
The balcony was covered in bird droppings as there are a lot of pigeons around and this was never cleaned, the table was also covered and we came back on day 4 to find the cleaner had just thrown a towel over it !!! So no sitting on the balcony not that we wanted to due to the road noise !!!
The furniture around the hotel and in the rooms is discolored and again very shabby.
The three young people that were the entertainment team were acutely embarrassing unless you are a small child and then the entertainment is great as each night you have an hour of kids disco and playing statues and other games on the small stage and then for the adults afterwards you have bingo and play your cards right, both of which you have to pay for !! There is also the occasional quiz, bad news when so many teams get all of the questions right and you have to do elimination questions !!
I don't know who told them they could sing as they can't, my cat holds a tune better and the ginger haired one made the mistake of trying to sing Adele tracks and I do not think I have ever heard such a horrendous noise, the karaoke down my local pub is better at 11pm after 9 vodkas.
The alcohol is disgusting, we lined up a vodka and coke, a gin and coke, a white rum and coke and a dark rum and coke and we could not tell the difference. It is local trash.
Take your own towels as you have to pay a ten euro deposit and one euro every time you change it for a clean one.
The rooms do not have kettles or fridges.
If you need to keep your room on after 12 it is 35 euros, so don't do that use the courtesy room that is free.
Our room was also opposite the pool tables around the side of the pool and had to ring reception at 12 at night as a group of kids were using the cues at swords and throwing the balls around the pool area as well as at each other and believe me when 8 or 9 kids make a noise it is one hell of a noise, we had to ring reception to complain 3 times before the noise stopped.
The only saving grace is the staff at the hotel who in the main are very friendly and helpful.
Kelly Neech the Thomas Cook rep was also excellent and we left a 12 point list of problems which she said she will bring up at the next meeting with the hotel management.
If you want to escape the hotel as we did, head for the beach and pay 9 euros for 2 sunbeds and a brolly and have a lovely day in the sun.
Be prepared as the hotel is in an area with run down and empty properties and the paths are treacherous as there are pot holes the size of a bin lid and paving slabs smashed and missing.
I would not go back if you paid for my holiday and gave me £500 !!!
Don't unpack until you have been there for one day and one night !!!!
